Hi all, I just have a few question about some drums the first is if this is a good deal and any other info about would be welcomed because I really want a vintage ludwigs and a 16x26" kick.

and the second is if any of you have heard of Crown drums and if so how much would one from around 1972 be worth?

i dont know much about them, but this does not look like a kick drum to me. Rather it looks like a concert bass drum or possibly a marching bass drum. I see no place for spurs, and if you were thinking of converting this to a kick drum, well i guess you could. But if it is indeed a concert bass drum, you most likely will not be able to find drums to match.

personally, i would pass.

Yea man that looks like a concert bass. I wouldn't take it, that's for sure. As for Crown, if memory serves me correct, they are a low end drum company, so i'd pass on that too. Keep looking man and report back on yer findings.

I'll support my esteemed colleagues call on this being an orchestral bass drum. Back in the "old days" they had clip on spurs and clip on spikes, so it could have been used as a kick, who knows. Probably a 3 ply shell. Clear maple interior, poplar middle, mohagany exterior. Will deffinitally get you into John Bonham territory, if that's what you want. Good luck trying to find any other drums to match it, however. Crown drums, if I'm correct in thinking what I'm thinking, $300 tops, if they're in awesome condition.

Yeah I know it is a concert bass drum and I was going to convert it to a kick and maybe put on the classic lugs instead of the imperial lugs as well as find more vintage Ludwigs and put on a new wrap but I guess it isnt the best idea, oh well.

As for the Crown I actually own a snare and want to sell it because, well, it sounds pretty terrible, but that could be fixed with new heads and snare wires.

I guess I'll try to jump on a supraphonic going for $145 near where I live

Vintage Ludwig I defer to others with more knowledge. Crown, I know. My first kit in the early 70's was a Crown. They were crap, but let me bang away, learn a few beats, and learn what I didn't want in my next kit. A supra for $145? JUMP ON IT!!!!!

Looks like a supra to me. It is not a supersensitive, unless someone changed the strainer. If you have the money, BUY IT!

Here, check this out. http://www.vintagedrum.com/category/Drums-Vintage-Drums-Vintage-Snare-Drums/brand/Ludwig It will basically show you what you're looking for. That snare on Craig's list is a Supraphonic. For $125, grab it, if it's not gone already.
