Im, saving a LOT of money bying the beech custom, and i dont use more than two toms, and have found that i can get small toms sound very good. But can you get a bassdrum that shallow to really cut?

thanks in advance.

I'd go for the beech customs because of the crazy price difference. You can always get new heads and spend a lot of time tuning to get the sound you want, and then you can have a lot more money for GOOD CYMBALS, something you can't tune and play around with to get a good sound. If you want a floor tom for the beech customs you could probably find one on ebay and still save a lot of money.

Yes, very true indeed. There are two toms on ebay now, sad too say the seller will not ship them to europe though

Big drums talk to me, so I'd take the 24, 13, 16 combo. I'm drivin' a 26, 15, 16, 18 Ludwig right now. Yamaha makes great drums and hardware. I had a set of Recording Customs (22, 13, 16). Most all my hardware is Yamaha right now. You can't go wrong with any of those kits, however.

Go for the beech customs. It sounds like a really good deal to me and the drums look in good condition and the price sounds really good for them. You can have a lot of money left over to buy some other good equipment. All three sets look really nice though, so I'm sure you will be happy with whatever you decide to go with.

I have a beech custom in the same finish though in different sizes. I'm surprized you sold the SC, they're both the same quality line (I'd rate the SC maple higher). 500$ is extremely cheap. You could sell it for 750-1000$.

Are you sure the bass is so shallow? I think they only came in 16" and 18" depth. If you don't fill up the bass and don't use a hole, you can get plenty of boom. At least mine does with an emad and unmuffled reso with hole.

Btw, how do you measure bass depth, with or without hoops?

Very Nice Drums MadJazz! Well, i haven´t measured the bassdrum, but according to the seller, and the pics below it looks like a 14*. I would measure without the hoops, wich is the usual way to do it i think. Correct me if im wrong, hehe.

I sold the starclassics because i wanted to try something else, Tama SC is more common than volvo here in sweden and i just got bored with them, haha! I recently quit my band and wanted to change my gear in the same tine, life goes on.

thanks for all the replies!

well, both the beech customs & the maple customs aboslute have been sold, leaving only the maple definitive. II¨m not sure that would be a good purchase, feeling it was a experiment from yamaha too offer a semi-pro vintage style kit at a affordable price (shells made of chinese maple w/ 60 bearing edges). Corrrect me if im wrong, they sure look good, and have the same harware (old lugs) as the absolute`s.

i have found two DW`s that i´m also considering.

This is 96/97 w/ keller shells 8,10,14,22 that has been repainted and fitted with new r.i.m.s for 1562 USD,

And i´m really considering this one , a collector medium pitch in a pretty annoying finsish purple sparkle 24,13,16. Those are a few years old.. 2130 USD. Very cheap for a DW in sweden.

Get the DW ! Not sure why you'd want such big sizes. I'd go for the black one, pretty cheap. But the snare's missing.

If you're not sure, it's better to wait until you find something with which your'e fully satisfied. No reason for rushing things up and getting a set your'e not comfy with.

2100 for a used DW set.. yikes...

At the risk of sounding biased... (me biased?! surely not!) can you get Taye's over there?

well, i get your piont, but compare it too the retail price ; (5898 USD) And no, i can´t get taye, or porkpie ,or GMS here in sweden at a better price than DW.
I relly need a good set asap, and my budget is at maximum 2100 USD.
Maybe the yammies will do after all, the sizes are exactly what i´m looking for.
