Does anybody here happen to know the measurements and brand of Brad Wilk's snare drum during the 1991-2000 era. I watched the RATM DVD, The Battle Of Mexico City and absoluty fell in love with the sound of his snare. I know he uses a 14x7 from 2002-2005 and a 14x6.5 right now. Anybody who happens to know could you please infrom, thanx.

I have studied and studied on RATM dvds to find out what snare he used earlier on.
Some have mentioned Pork Pie or Premier. His main snare has tube lugs with either a blue satin finish or blue wrap. Can't quite make out if it's 6.5 inch though.
Search on youtube for their appearance on Conan Obrien with "Testify", you can see what I'm talking about.

I did watch the conan Obrien " Testify" from the looks of the tube...i think he is using BRADY snare...yes Brady....in his modern drummer magazines interview ..he did mention that he uses Brady alot...so that might be it.

No it's not Brady....different tube lugs!!
He's used that snare for years.Watch the self titled RATM dvd and he uses it in Germany in 96 and even on the original clip "Bullet in the Head".Awesome sounding snare whatever it is and how he tunes.

Well I was watching the music video of "Testify" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JSBhI_0at0) here and at 1:52 you can see a glimpse of the snare he's using. Looks to me like a Gretsch by the lugs and badge.
And I also saw in the video "Sleep Now in the Fire" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz8wU9DdbqU), that at 3:26, you can see the snare drum, lugs and badge and at first thought it was a Pork Pie.
What do you guys think.

I don't know, I'm looking at that video right now and it looks like it might be a 5x14 Ludwig supraphonic snare. I can't seem to find that video that phyjy was talking about (RATM on Conan O'Brian).

Yea that's what I thought at first, but the badge looked different from a ludwig one. But it has the same lugs as the Supraphonic...Damn Brad Wilk's and his awesome sounding snare!

you're right, i thought the same thing about the badge. i thought maybe it was the older style keystone badge because it's not really clear in the video.

its defenately not a pork pie or a ludwig that i have ever seen. Looks like large tube lugs to me -- custom?

Well I'm going to be hanging out with Brad Wilk pretty soon so I'll let you guys know what they are.
I just thought pork pie because of the big badge...not much knowledge on my part with Pork Pie.

Here's a pic from "testify" on Obrien.
This this snare he used a lot in his earlier career and is seen on dvds
This snare has different tube lugs than the one on "Sleep Now In the Fire".
Damn it what is it???!!!!

To the best of my knowledge, those would be rentals from Drum Paradise.

Oh yea the testify video he's playing a Brady. I recognize the lugs because Larry Mullen Jr. has a shyoak snare drum with same lugs. The sleep now in the fire is a pork pie....sure of it.

i dont know -- i have 2 pork pie snares and neither badge looks like that -- and the pork pie badge is more rectangular.

I'm still not convinced that it's a Brady..........
Look at the Brady website and the lugs are different.

Well, for my two cents, I think in "Testify", he's using a Ludwig supraphonic and probably pre-1970. If you stop th clip at 1:52, to me, the badge looks like the image I've attached. What do you think?

Yeh that's a Ludwig.
But we're missing the point here....
I want to know the snare he used in the 90's in certain clips.
Dark blue snare, tube lugs, maybe 6.5 inch.
Here's the pick again........

I spoke to Kelly, Bradydrums, and he said that it's not a Brady. Their snares weren't blue, the tube lugs made contact twice with the shell. He thinks it's a Pork Pie, which is what I initially thought. I'll send the guy at Pork Pie an email asking him.

It almost looks like a Tama in that video, but it could be a Ludwig.

that is 100% a ludwig -- supraphonic with a keystone badge... defenately not a tama.

He used a Tama Bell Brass snare 14x7 during that time period. I don't know what he's using in that picture, though I would bet a Ludwig.

I think we should wait til this site fixes it's probs why attached photos are'nt viewing....
Then we can pin point the snare in question.
Yes that's a Ludwig with the clips showing, but the snare in question has tube lugs with ONE contact point to the shell....
It's not a Tama
I'm sure Brad played Premier drums for most of his time with RATM -- perhaps that blue snare is a Premier??
