Hi friends.

In the last time I felt very inspired by Brad Mehldau...and Keith Jarrett (Trio). So wanted to make something ballad-like, kinda jazzy. And although I never had piano lessons for a long time I just got behind the Keyboard of my father yesterday and improvised on it. But I have a particular interpretation.
I call this tune "In my last hour". I tried to use my current music theory knowledge, what I saw from guys like Brad or Keith, and of course my own creativity to get this.

For the recording I played Piano (Korg Triton V2 Keyboard) and of course drums. =)
In this one the drums are very much in the backround, I wanted something timingless overall, just expressing feelings, what you would do in your last hour. Nothing with a timing, right?
So, I`ll record one more, then with a leading drum part with a tight timing. On the drums I played in the beginning part just with brushes on the cymbals, in the bluesy part with sticks and in the end with mallets. Just in the backround.

So, I`ve attached it as an MP3, hope you can enjoy it at least a bit. Tell me how do you like it etc. :-)

Karl

EDIT: Added a new one called "Two Streets"...more abstract melodies. :-)

Stirring stuff man!
I like the gradual, sort of ambient build up and playing with the snares off was a tasteful touch. Although, I thought you were gonna make it have some kind of drop after the build up but you went back to a similar theme you had in the beginning, its quite melancholic music for a 16 year old!! You aren't sad are you?

Take care and keep busting it out man, Your passion for this is a beautiful thing.

thanks alot man! No, I`m not sad...I`m rather happy that I´ve done two school tests last week. =) I just remember those situations sometimes. But however, I`m glad you found it good...or don`t you?

thanks,

Karl

thanks...so, I had just a very rough picture in mind how the modulation shall be but nothing very professional. It was just about the expression thing.
So now I`ll go and try to record something with a swinging time.

thanks alot,

Karl

I want more!

okay, so you all shall get more. =) Recorded this new one today...and I call it "Two Streets". The chords are more abstract and I`ve done two small solos in it, those trading fours, nothing special. (why 2 solos?...well, look at the song name, my interpretation, my interpretation. ;-)

Hope you like it...and thanks very very much for all the nice comments, true compliments for a non-pianist! lol

Sounds great buddy. The Piano piece was very tasteful and the drums complimented it very well. Nicely done man.

Karl,

You've achieved a nice sound and touch on both of these instruments. The piano playing is wonderful and I like the good use of space/silence throughout the song. I like the fact that you're experimenting with other instruments and then combining it with your drumming.

Keep it up man.

haha, thanks for your opinions!
Fusssion: Let`s say that I`m allowed to play the piano...lol.

When I find myself inspired in a club again I`ll do more stuff ;-) ...maybe just with piano or with a drum solo?...We`ll see.

Thanks! I`ll try to pick up piano again...especially for studying at university it would be important...and overall it is just such a nice instrument.

Maybe I record some more ideas...when I`m not too busy with school.
