Buying a drum pedal

im thinking if i go for a duble bass drum pedal shuld i go for the £100 ($196) pedals or the say £200 ($392) shuld i go for quality or price

Usually get what you pay for. But try out as many as possible and base your decision on feel and the quality the pedal is made of . In the end you can buy a cheap pedal but in the long run you'll save money by buying a better one now instead of replacing a cheaper one that didn't hold up. Just for reference I've been using the same DW 5000 double pedal for 12 years and it's still working great!

I just purchased the Pearl Powershifter 2000C/B. I ended up with this pedal after checking out: Yamaha Flying Dragon, Tama Iron Cobra, DW9000, DW5000. The Pearl just felt so much better than the others. The Yamaha was a close second, but the beater adjustment was lacking. The Tama was top heavy and just overall too heavy. The Pearl has so many adjustment points, and three cams, and you can interchange the chain and belt. I felt I just go so much more than the others with the Pearl.

alr8 kida. go for higher end, i bought junior iron cobra 7months ago and snapped foot board in half, so just bought DW 9002. defo go for higher will last longer!! all the best. mike

I have been using my DW5000s for about the same amount of time! They hold up well!

A pedal is one piece of equipment you cant skimp on. It is so vital to your style and every song you play. Your snare and pedal should never be sub-par.

I think the Iron Cobra double pedal is about 200. I would go with that or the DW5000 pedal (if the 5000 is under 200). But as DC says, you should not buy a half decent pedal, when you buy a set, the pedal should be one of the first things you upgrade. Extremely important.

When I bought mine I paid about $400. At the time the 5000 was the top end of the food chain for pedals, kind of like the 9000 is now. As far as lasting, it's all about how you treat your gear. Though I wish DW made a conversion to get the double chain setup they have now, I think it's smoother and faster than the single chain version I have.

go for the iron cobras, i little pricey, but WORTH IT, comes with a hard shell carring case and everything, they completly take care of ya. but the dw 9000's and 5000's and even the pearls and axis pedals just feel boring, the iron cobras were made for double bass

Actually All the pedals listed were designed for double bass, DW was one of the first companies to make the slave pedal and be successful with it. So while your opinion is just that your opinion there are many great options available from all those companies that will fill anyones needs what may work for you may not for someone else.

Try to get your feet on as many pedals as you can. I'm a single pedal player right, but I had a few double pedals in the last 10 years. I play 2 Yamaha Flying Dragon Direct Drive pedals. I had a DW5000A3 side by side a Yamaha for over a month, doin' the A/B, and the Yamaha won, so I sold the DW and bought a second Flying Dragon. All the high end pedals are just that, high end. So it boils down to "what feels best" to you.
