I have a DW 7000 bass drum pedal and am finding it very hard to do heel-toe on it. Anyone else have this problem with this pedal or any pedal for that matter and also any solutions?

I still have my DW7000, but recently replaced it with a Pearl 2000C/B. From that perspective, I hadn't noticed any difference. However, the DW7000 was a bit too rickety for my taste.

I also use a Vruk pedal. It really allows me to do some crazy heel-toe/toe-heel combinations.

My problem is that my heel is at the very back end of the pedal. If I move my heel forward some to get the first hit, then my toes are underneath the chain...not comfortable at all.

What about getting a top stop?

How does it work? I've never seen this before.

Also, maybe I'm not doing the heel-toe correctly???

The way I do the heel toe is by placing your foot closer to the chain. There's no doubt that by doing it that way, you can do the heel toe an any pedal. I have a millenium pro double pedal and it works perfectly! ;)

What about the tension and also how far away the beater is from the head?

Take a peak at,

www.vrukpedal.com

I own one, and just love it. Okay back to the standard pedal...

I have found that heel-toe is not literally heel-toe. What I have found is that it is difficult to step down onto the pedal with your entire heel - at least for me. In fact, I don't believe you want to do this at all. What you want to do is to drop the heel so as to create the forward motion of the beater. Even though your heel may never completely slam down on the pedal, the dropping and rocking motion of your foot is the key.

Input from the experts?
