One of my favorite songs to play on the Tommy Igoe cd.
The sound is comming from a mic over my headm so we dont really hear the kick.

Its weird, i've watched it 10000 times, and realized that when I switch to trad, my right hand opens up, and I cant figure out why.

That was pretty smooth, seemed natural, and your fills were tasteful but not excessive. Tommy would be proud of that...nice kit too.
How long you been playing?

Cool stuff. Could you transcribe the groove? This is one of the few times i cant figure it out by just hearing it.
Edit- nvm i realize you arent playing whats written but just jamming... Good stuff man sounded great.

Great video!! You're playing sounds great. The fills sounded great. The first longer fill you did sounded rushed towards the end, but, everything else was awesome! Keep it up.

HEy !! nice job!!! but pay attention in the 1:47 1:48 there is snare hit layed back...
why don't u use your left foot when you go on the ride? is it on pourpose? you also have a nice balanced sound between trad and matched !!! congrats!
Keep up the good work! :D:D

Cool bro, Tommy would like it!
Your grooving was very cool, you have a nice unique taste in my opinion, you are definitly on a great way. (I especially like your fill ins.)
but really take care of timing. At some moments you were too slow and hung behind the beat. Take care of that, try to pull the others more (even if it is just a play-along).
and why not playing step hi-hat when playing on the ride? Maybe always on the offbeat? This would give the whole groove more consistence and would groove even more.
Overall neat, keep it up!! =)
PS: Your Bosphorus Ride sounds amazing, much better than the XS, I love the sound!

Sweet man. Again, just keep a track of timing.
You might want to try some extremely simple grooves over that track, just Billie Jean type stuff - boom schtack boom schtack - and keep track of every 8th note. Try that the whole track through. If you can do that, you're doing well.

Hi,
Thanks for the comments
I'll work on the timing.
I think my main probleme is thinking too much,
In the past year, i've really been trying to "find" my "style",
and now im just confused,
When I'm playing, heres whats going inside my head:
"I'm overplaying it ! "
"or am I not playing enough ?"
"am I taking my space ?"
"should I do a billion notes in the next fill, or should I keep it simple?"
"was that too simple?"
Thats my main probleme... I'm always scared of overplaying
I'll do a different song tomorow

That's good! but... what is not goog isto be scared... i suggest you an incredible book that u can find on the net... it's called "EFFORTLESS MASTERY" from the pianist KennyWerner it's dedicated exactly to this problem... For all the kind of instrument, i also had the chance to see a lesson about drumset with him. I hope it'll be useful to you! and i would like to know your impression about this book!
Ciao!!

Doesn`t matter ;-)
Your playing was swingy and you did a good job with it. I especially liked your last fill-in before the music started again (2:03 mins). I can highly recommend to keep this up, you are on a great way!
Work much on your spang-a-lang, on your Ride work in general...because that is the actual center of playing. The comping with bass and snare is an addition, also very important to make accents etc. BUT remember that the Ride is the source (at least in BeBop). So it is very important to keep the pulse going on with the Ride and the hi-hat. Also here pull the track more...
Try to do more silent snare work, the same goes with the bass drum. Take your time and just fondle the drums with your sticks, you know? Develope to set accents etc.
But for the first time, if you have got the pure movements in your head, start to get sensitivity. To bring it on a calmer level. <----- I had this problem also, good that I discovered Lewis Nash ;-)
Overall you will see what style do you get, Jazz doesn`t always mean CALM, just listen to some Tony Williams stuff.
Keep it up...oh, and I don`t wanted to be too harsh or so, I`ll also work on some of those probs I have, we all are in that boat, aren`t we?
