I was looking at Pearl's website and i noticed that i didn't feature the Pearl sessions anymore (http://www.pearldrum.com/pearlusa.asp). Does anyone know anything about that?

I think there was a replacment series at NAMM. Try looking up some details on that. An allll new kit thats between masters and export.

Yep, I hear they've been discontinued as well, I would assume in favor of the new Export series line which has some of the features of the Sessions, but is still considered Export. I believe they've also added a new line in the Masters series, but I could be wrong.
It's kind of a shame if you ask me. Sure, the Sessions weren't the most popular line I'm sure, but they offered a cost effective way to get quality Maple or Birch shells and some good hardware. I guess maybe my drums are "vintage" now. At least maybe they'll increase in value a bit.

The sessions were replaced by the masters mcx. I liked the sessions more its a shame they replaced them, cheaper and had that awesome emerald fade.

I'd be willing to bet that it's because they couldn't match the sales of the other lines like the exports and masters. If someone's going to spend a certain amount of money, lots of times they'll be willing to spend a little more to get a significantly better kit. So the Exports represent the low end, the Masters the high end, and so the Sessions are the ones that get ignored.
That's my best guess.

Wow that seems like that would be the perfect reason to do so. Kinda like it only costs an extra 50 cents to double the size of your popcorn or drinks at the movies. Its too bad though really, i actually like my session better than some masters ive played on. But i still think reference is their best made drum.

Yeah, I do too, but that's a bit of a drastic jump. $2000 for a 4-piece? Eek.

The problem with the Session kits (other than those annoying ISS mounts) is that they were out-competed in the intermediate kit market. They had nice shells and were well made, but then every other manufacturer did exactly the same thing for several hundred cheaper, without the Sessions being significantly better, Pearl probably lost a large market share in the intermediate stakes. Hence the new Export line, which is cheaper and more competitive than the original Sessions.

The mounts... Are you talking about those black things on each tom ? Because yeah i dont like them either. I dont remember why but i had to mess with them while putting on my hydros and it took twice as long because of them.
Also, the sessions are pretty expensive, but i personally think it is the best quality intermediate level set(either that or the catalinas). Still they are a tiny bit overpriced.

I think I'm gunna look at a Gretsch Renown now... I'm beginning to hate my Cabria with a passion. Either that or I'm going to sell everything I can muster up, besides my cymbal collection (of course), to buy a reference.

They are making Pearl Visions now. Made in a new factory, with not one component outsourced according to their ad.
