Well, I'm planning on selling/trading in my A Zildjian cymbals for those A Zildjian Vintage & Cie. models they sell now. After looking around, these are the closest ones to that old sound I'm looking for. To buy a set of these, I would need to sell the cymbals I have and was wondering if anyone had an idea of about how much money you could get for these.
The cymbals are 2005 models, they are in perfect condition and have been cleaned and polished regularly. 20" medium ride, 16" med-thin crash, 14" Fast Crash, 14" New Beat hi-hats.

You're better off by selling them first and then buying the cymbals you want. You won't get much for trade in at a music store.

As for prices I'd say probably $150 for the New Beats, $120 or so for the Medium Ride, and $100 & $90 respectively for the crashes. But that's just me.

Yeah, trading them in the store is going to rip you off.

I recently wanted to sell some K Customs...... so I checked the websites for Musicians Friend and Midwest Percussion, my cymbals sell for just at 2000.00 at midwest, and just over 2400 at friend. Music Go Round ...... looked them up on the Musicians Friend website and then offered 450.00. My cymbals look new. You are better off selling them yourself.

You may be best to go to eBay, you will certainly do better than at a music store. I also buy and sell cymbals, however I've used up my expendible cash on a few other offers right now so I don't have the buying power to help you out. Maybe in a few weeks, though.

Hey,

all in all i would tell you to sell the cymbals on eBay.
Do you know the "eBay-disease"? You always spend more money on a thing than you really wanted to.
There exist great studies about the "buy-eBay-desease"...
But at the end, the prices are fair for seller and buyer!

Well, for one I'm not entirely sure how new cymbals would sell on EBAY. I see how the vintage market is successful and the business for hard to get models like K Customs but I'm not sure selling A Zildjians would get much attention. I've visited cymbalcellar.com a few times, fooleeze, and thought about doing business with you but I understand that business is a bit slow right now. Let me know if anything opens up...
I never really wanted it to come down to trading them in at music stores mainly because I don't believe anyone working there has enough sense to sell them for a decent price. So, overall it seems it would be better to sell them separately perhaps even different ways just to see what happens. For example, I know the hi-hats would be quite popular and possibly the fast crash too. Thanks guys for the help...

Well do a search on Ebay and see what people are paying for similar cymbals you're selling. People buy new on Ebay, not just vintage or hard to get items. People want items they can get for even $20 cheaper or that they can get for the same price they'd pay elsewhere but get it RIGHT NOW.

I thought about getting 15" new beat hi-hats, a 21" sweet ride, and a 18" thin crash and just keeping my 14" fast crash. This seems to me like it would keep the versatility of the kit but add more bottom to the sound from the bigger sizes and thinner weights. I know already that I would like the thin crash and the sweet ride as having seen them already but the 15" new beats sound great recorded. Now just to sell those others...

yes, as the others have said SELL ON EBAY. don't sell them to guitar center or sam ash etc.

case in point:

spent $99 on an a custom splash
guitar center would have given me $33
sold on ebay for $76

sweet ride:
guitar center would have given me $81
sold on ebay for $178.25

17" a custom crash:
guitar center would have given me $66
sold on ebay for $134.40

the guitar center "would have" price is based on 1/3 of the price of the cymbal new, which is what i was told by

guitar center and sam ash employees what they generally go by.

Today I went to pick up my new ride cymbal. A 21" HHX Groove Ride. It is beautiful. I took in my OLD 22" AA Dry ride just to see what they would give me for it. I was expecting around $75. Well I damn near crapped my pants when they gave me $105!!! Brand new I believe they are $195 Canadian. It is 10-12 yrs old and it barely has the logos on it anymore. SOLD!!!!
