I just got my new Ludwig Accent CS, it came with Evans G1 clear tom heads, G1 coated snare head and an EQ4 on the bass drum. That got me thinking, what are the best stock heads that have come with a drumset you have seen?

i saw a gretsch classic maple kit at a drum store and it had coated G2s on top and clear G1s on the bottom......that would be cool if i could afford a classic maple set

ive heard that the stock heads that come on dw kits are good,im pretty sure ginger baker played the cream reunion concert using those, and the ones that came with my tama superstar kit sound awsome

I'd say what came on your kit is a very nice set of heads. Allot of guys switch out heads to the ones you got. Also the DW heads seem to be pretty good. Other than that.......?

G1 coated bottom
G2 coated top
....it really does not get better than that on that set.
If you don't like the sound of coated, keep the G1 coated on bottom and get a EC2 clear for the top.

Yeah, those were pretty cool! Liked their feel, good stock heads.
But the best I could probably get are Remo Coated/Clear Ambassador on a Reference. Love Remo`s Ambassador feeling and sound, amazing heads, definitly my favourite.
Evans Equivalent feels always a bit strange to me, not bad at all but kinda stiff, more attack.
