Heya, I've never owned a snare drum stand :), so naturally I have a question:
Are snare drum stands easily adjustable for various snare drum diameters or one has to buy separate stands for 12" and 14"?

they're pretty easily adjustable. look at the picture below, the black plastic part screws up or down to bring the 3 arms closer together or farther apart (and by result a bit higher or lower). the picture is a yamaha stand, others may look slightly different, but they're all pretty much the same

I actually use a Tama Titan base with a DW upper shaft and basket. The basket is the one with the teeth and the basket isn't detatchable. I tried on of these and didn't like it!

I would say most all snare stands will hold 13" and 14" snares. I had to get a dedicated smaller stand to hold my Yamaha 12".

Out of curiousity, if you've never had a snare drum stand, how on Earth did you hold up your snare drum??

Yes and no :)

Most brands have two stands, one for 13-14" and one for 10-12". However the Pearl S2000 goes all the way from 10-16"!
