Hello Everyone! I have surfed this site for a while now and I finally decided to join. Seems like a great place.

I am growing a little bored of my 14' AA Flat Hats, I feel like I want a warmer sound. I don't really like my hats cutting through too much. I Thought I may want to look at some HHX hats if I want a sound that blends into the music a bit more.

I know its somewhat of a vauge question, but any help would be great. Thanks!

I have a pair of HHX Stage hats, and they're very versatile. I guess they will be darker than your Flat hats. They will blend more I think. But you can also try Istanbul or Bosphorus hi-hats, they're pretty warm and aren't too cutting.

I would personally go for Sabian HH Duo Hats, but I'm not sure if they're what you're looking for. They're plenty warm though.

HHX groove hats are dark crisp and overall good hats.

Yeah, I actually agree now... I didn't see that he was looking for "warm". Nevermind my Mastersound comment. Those cut... great for zeh ROCK.

I have a pair of the groove hats, and while I agree that they're great, versatile etc.. I don't consider them to be very dark. I guess for me they weren't warm or dark enough.

Depends on what price range, but I have a pair of 14" K Custom Session hats that blend into the music really well. I love em and absolutely recommend them.

Well if you're looking not just for Sabian, check out www.cymbalsonly.com Specifically any of the Bosphorus hats, but also an Istanbul, and some of the new Meinl hats.Email tony, he might be able to help you find what you like. He deals with Sabian too, so he should be able to help you find a model that may suit you.

14" K Zildjian hats. Great, great versitile hats. They are warm, lay in the mix very well and are able to get a great amount of sounds out of them.

Here are my suggestions:

Sabian: 14" HH Regular hats or the 13" Fusion Hats. Or even the Groove hats (HHX I think)

Zildjian: 14" K (or K Mastersound).

I'd say a set of HHX groove hats or some Ks will serve you well, warm and blending for sure.

From your description, I dont think the A Mastersounds will work for you. I just bought some in 14" and they are loud and cutting. Try the K's or maybe the Sabian Paragon hats. I played on the paragons last week and they were really nice hats.

I know that many people don't like them, but ...
14" K cons are dark, soft and do not cut too much. They are not loud. They may be too mushy for your purposes however, so you will need to hear them first. You can get them for $345 a pair, delivered to your door, if you search the net. Joey

You cannot go wrong with the 14 a mastersounds.

I had a pair and sold them. I bought the entire paragon line.

I do miss those hats sometimes. I will probably buy another pair in the future.

Probably the best hats I have heard or played.

I agree try as many as you can and don't buy any that you personally can't hear live.

I suggest Paiste Signature soundedge 14", great hats and very versatile.

I am using Zildjian remix 12 inch hats and they sound good all the way around! Now get this a few weeks before I bought them at the music store Steve Smith signed them! I play them a lot I really like the sound but Steve sig. on them gives me something to brag about too!

I think you can't go wrong with bosphorus traditional crisp hats. they're so great, so musical... definitely dark and not too cutting.

check out cymbalsonly.com <I know, mentioned above> to hear them if you want.

The K Mastersounds would porbably work better as stated here. The Ks are better suited for jazz than rock. I noticed this weekend comparing them on two gigs they really were in their own league on the jazz gig but lacked enough cut for the rock gig.

Yes. I have the A Mastersounds in 14". They are great rock hats and cut thru very well. Also sound good played in half open position. They are loud though and wouldnt work for jazz or the like but for any type of rock, they cant be beat. Ask Travis Barker.
