Anyone seen this (http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_id=DADDALK/421.0.16864.56.16205.0.0) key, and is it a gimmick or solid product?

Thats pretty cool, and quite handy aswell. Never seen them before, but its Evans and I'm a fanboy so I say "Solid".

It is one of the Evans drum keys. I say solid. Of course those things are always kinda gimmicks but it can be very useful, it doesn`t have to, but it can. If it is too dark it will be helpful...and it is handy.
though I`ve never needed such a thing yet.

A mini mag lite is only 9.50, and a key is 2.50, why would you spend 28.00??

My feelings exactly. I keep a Mini Maglite Velcroed to my stand and I have a collection of drum keys. Plus I use tightscrews, so de-tuning isn't a problem anyway.

Plus, your drums are right in front of you, how hard is it to feel around to find the tension rods. You certain'y don't need the flashlight aspect while tuning.

Ok, update...
My wife got me this key for Valentine's Day (I know, but I love drums, so it works) and it is COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL.
First off, it doesn't fit standard lugs. Can you believe it? It's too damn small. I always thought lug size was universal...so it is a completely non-functional drum tool.
Second, the LED light is the most feeble, orange speck of a pinhole light. Worthless.
The only cool function is the quick release from the chain...but a fat lot of good that does me if it won't fit on my lugs.
Funny thing is, on the back of the package it says, "not intended for use on drum hardware". WTF? Am I supposed to frame it in a shadow box and admire it from afar?
Shite. Bummer too, I like Evans, guess I'll stick to heads.

WHAT?!?!?! This should get submitted to one of those sites that tracks stupid products. First, it's advertised as a drum key on the front, but the back says it's not supposed to be used on drums. Mmmmm-kay, then WHAT is it good for use on??
Dumb, dumb, dumb. Evans, are you scanning for customer perceptions of your products?

Evans wants $28 on their site.
Musicians Friend is only $20.
Either way...AVOID!
