Lookin at Ludwigs

I'm looking at Ludwig accent custom zep kit.Anyone have this kit?Any feedback would be great.

If you're on a serious budget, don't want to consider used and just gotta have a 26" kick, it might be a decent choice. I heard one right next to a Gretsch Catalina kit and I think the Gretsch gave the Zep. kit a run for the money. I drive a 26x14 Ludwig 6ply Classic Maple kick that I bought used off eBay, so I know when the call of the big drum bites...but I think you could get a better "big kick" if you shop around.

Hey, i actually have the ludwig that you are looking for. I got a good deal for it at Guitar Center. They had it for 50% off so i got it for 600 bucks! Unfortunately i still havent played it!!! But i've been thinking of selling it and getting the ddrum dominion maple set. Mostly because it's maple and not mahogany. I haven't really seen good comments about the ludwigs on this site. So i'm mostly going by that although i have it. But like i said, i haven't had the chance to play on them.

WOW, buy a kit and sell it before you even play it??, You can't go solely by others, especially when you already own it.. Why can't you set it up and play it?? If your gonna sell it do you have any pics??

It isnt that im just selling it simply based on others. But when i was looking at getting a new kit i really wanted the ddrums. But when i saw the deal on the ludwig, i knew that i couldn't pass it up. And the reason why i can't set it up is because of neighbors. They complain for EVERYTHING where i live. But we are looking for a monthly lockout place to go play. And i forgot to mention that, i actually did want to give it a shot before i made the decision to sell it or not. But i forgot it on the previous post.

That's because GC is dropping their Ludwig dealership.
Some excuse about Ludwig not being able to fill orders fast enough, but who knows what the real story is.




Mostly because it's maple and not mahogany.
Don't go mistaking Mahogany for "Mahogany".
The "Mahogany" generic drums are typically made from (Luan) bear no resemblence to real Mahogany, in both composition and sound.
Luan actually sounds very much like Birch, just not as "nice".
I suppose the Marketeers could probably hit the mark closer by relabeling Luan as "X-treme Birch!". =))

I recently bought those drums in the last 2 months, I have the natural finish ones. I love them, I think they're great. I don't know what the maple Ludwigs sound like but I'm tellin ya it can't be a whole lot better, especially for the price. I have a set of Tama Starclassics also and they've take a backseat to my new Ludwigs. Set them up before you get rid of them and hit that bass drum one time, you won't be disappointed!!!

Sounds like Ludwig's done it again.
...and they're right about Ludwig kicks. I have an 18x14 Classic Maple kick and I once sent an MP3 of it to a friend and asked him to guess the size.
He didn't believe me when I told him. I think he still thinks its a 22x18. =)

Also, they need to introduce a 14" rack tom into the Accent series.
Bonzo played 14x10 mostly, although one of the steel kits from the '77 tour had a 15x12, and then there's a picture floating around somewhere of him playing on a little amber vistalite jazz kit (his kid is seen playing it in the movie)..
13x9 sort of makes it a Big Band setup (although the 18 should be replaced with another 16 in that case).

To me, its not really a "Bonzo" kit unless it's got at least a 14" rack tom on top of that 26.


...funny how we equate kit setup to musical styles.
Oh well, just a product of our society I guess.

Well I went to my music store tonight to see about ordering this kit.Back ordered till August!!! WTF Now they do have a kit in the natural finish about a hour from here.The price here is 1425.00 cdn.And I see GC is selling for 600.00 us.You lucky guys ,So do I get this kit tomorrow or get something else?

Find out how much it will cost to bring it back across the border.
If that + $600 comes out to less than $1425, I say make a run for the border and get that puppy!

These drums leave my PDP kit in the dust any time, any place.
I must play soflt because the "others" may hear me on their island due
to the 26" BASS DRUM!
I must go now and paly. Maybe Michael and Walt will hear these LOUD
Drums and come back and save me from the black smoke...
