That's really, really nice. Beautiful finish, excellent quality and a good selection of bronze.
But whose is the Taylor?!?!

Brilliant choice...your set-up looks very unique to me...
How do you like your HHX 12" Evo splash, I got one as well and I love its thin and trashy crash sound.
And how works this vintage sizzle A with the modern AAX??
Overall it looks awesome, I`m become a big fan of the Oak custom, beautiful sound.

Thanks Karl and MFB, I like the Evolution Splash...same reasons, thin, quick...
I've had the sizzle for over 40 years...use it for some of the stuff we do and the AAX for the rest...depends on the song choice.
MFB, the Taylor belongs to our lead guitarist...as does the 56 Strat...plus a Les Paul Classic Custom...nothin but the best...AND he can play!

Beautiful finish, SOG. That red color in oak is stunning. How do you like the sound of oak? Congratulations.

I love the sound, deep and "boomy"...they are loud (as advertised). My first kit was a Red Sparkle...this one is beautiful. I'll have to get some shots posted in a better light.
How are the Maple Customs? Looks like another beautiful set of Yamahas.
Thanks.

Another beautiful Oak Custom with an 18" bass. I am really fond of Oak Customs and yours is a beaut. As for sound, I have had my Oaks in the studio playing rock, live playing classic rock ( a Jimi Hendrix Tribute) and live playing jazz/fusion and I have not had an instance when I thought they sounded off. The sound man for our band has commented every show how much he likes the sound of my bass especially.
How bright of sound are yours with the clears?

Very nice kit. Your bass is 17x22 though, they don't do 18x22 in Oak. I'm a stickler for detail :) Is that a new finish, I've never seen it before. I love the snare too. Something classy about a snare with wood hoops.
Glad you like them. I had an oak custom kit and hated it every day that I played it until I got something else. It's the kind of wood where either you like the tone or you don't.

You are correct 4 Strings...the bass is 22X17...typo on my part.
I bought the Anton Fig snare first. Played alot of snares while looking and I really like the wood hoops, rimshots are crisp and cutting...band is pretty loud and there is no problem with getting through even when playing on the rims.
I like the sound of the Oak Customs, again I agree that you either like the tone or not. Fortunately for us drummers there are alot of choices in materials today...

I just cant stop looking at that first picture, those really are amazing looking drums, i would love to hear how they sound.
This is perhaps the nicest looking set of Yamahas ive ever seen. If i where to buy a set of yammies i would have to get that finnish.
Be sure to post some sounds soon!
Very sharp looking stuff. Very nice.

The Oak custom is an awesome kit and will probably on top of my list when I'll for new kit. Your kit and setup is no axeption. It look great I love the finish. Seeing the position of your snare, I guess you play left hand trad. grip ?
Keep those sticks rollin' sir !

That first photo tells it all. NIce and tight, close and easy to play and a gorgeous color even for a guy that likes blue. Rock on.

Yes, I do play left hand traditional grip...most of the time. There are times when I change up and play open hand depending on the style of music and the particular song...having learned traditional grip that is still what I gravitate too naturally.
Thanks for the appreciative comments...by the way, I like blue too.

that set if absolutely beautiful! I love the oak custom and i love your cymbals! WOW!

Thanks Gretsch 223, My cymbals are a mix of the very old (got the Zildjian sizzle ride when I got my first drum kit around 1970...it was used then! The hats are from around 1972 and were the first new pieces I ever purchased). The HHX Evolution splash is around 3 years old and the AAXs are around 6 months old...
I spend a lot of time listening and playing cymbals and bought the ones I have because they just sound good to me..SO scientific!
Thanks again.

Hey,
awsome kit!!!
The color is really aggresiv. The most i like on yamaha drums is the small logo on the reso-bass head. Because it is so small, the bassdrum looks very big.
Nice snare. I will try to order some woodhoops too.
Why are you still using stock-heads? I would really put some others on.
What kind of hihat is that?

do you own the glass wall or do the venues supply them? cause i work at a theater/hall and they use them for big shows. I've never seen them in little bar type venues.
PS NICE KIT! i have a yamaha, there great.

The sound shield is by Clearsonic...belongs to the venue and it makes a great difference in maintaining the the sound level on stage...does get very loud behind the shield though...
Also gets pretty warm back there....
Beats having to play behind chicken wire...some of the places I used to play a long time ago...a little rowdier than these days!!!!
