Hi everybody, some people here already know I own a Tama Rockstar, and I got an extra tom with it when I bought the set. This tom is a 14", just as the 3rd tom from the Rockstar, so it's really extra. I was wondering if someone can give an impression on how much I could ask for it if I wanted to sell it. I am thinking of buying Pinstripes for my other toms and a snare head, because it's all Ambassadors now, and that's to bright for my taste, and I don't think an Ambassador head is good as a snare either...
So, that's why I ask the question. How much can I ask for the 4th tom?

It depends on type of wood, quality, aso. Can you post some more details on it?

Love the David Lovering inspired set up, with the roses!

Ok, here they are (it's actually two). The one without the head is a 15", and only has one hoop. The quality of the toms is quite poor I think, but still they are round and have 8 lugs. I don't know the wood type, but that can be seen on a few pictures I think.
The man that owned my drumkit before me had the intention to make his kit look like Lars Ulrichs old one, so that explains the colors.

Who is David Lovering by the way? Do you have pictures of his set?

I would not know how much they are worth, but you could allways check ebay. How are the bearing edges?

About Lovering: I do not have any pics, but I found the music video where he has roses all over his kit. He usually used a 5 piece (like yours) though.

a cheap tom made of (most likely) cheap wood that is guaranteed to not match anyone's existing drumset is worth nothing -- or damn close to it. Most likely the cost in shipping would be as much as most people would ever consider paying for it.

donate it to a school music program.

I'll give a second to Elvis's appraisal.

Dave Lovering was (or is, depending on any future reunion tours) the drummer for The Pixies. What a band.

that, my friends ...is an old Tama Imperialstar tom from then 80's ...not re-covered very well, ...but, that is what it is. It's a mahogany kit w/ zolacoat on the inside. Great sounding drums....ask T. Underhill!

are you serious? I thought that toms were really 'self-made', nothing special and all. But if they are actually tama's, they must be worth something if they are restored to their old glory...

imprerial star or no, i still stand by my first estimate -- who in the world would need THIS tom only? This shell and hardware color only? This size only?

no one.

For what it's worth, I'd just keep it and possibly turn it into something funky at a later time. Its definitely not going to be a hot commodity, so you might as well just hold onto it, or if that's not interesting, then donate it like suggested above.

Haha, one look at those lugs and muffler and I was like "Whaaa!?". And they do sound great!! Your individual tom isn't worth much by itself in the current condition and doing any work to restore it to an Imperialstar wrap isn't worth it at all.

Yes,...don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's worth selling, because of its' condition.

However,..it IS an Imperialstar and you CAN get it to "sound" good.

And.....a traditional sized 14" tom is NOT a bad addition to any kit. It's the work that it would take to make it look reasonable that is the issue!

OK, cool to know it's a 'real' Tama :-).
What would you people do with it? It sits next to the normal 14", and in sound it's deeper, so it complements the kit really well (is that proper english?).
I am thinking of making the 15" a concert tom, like a gong tom (ACDC style), but then smaller :-).
Just searching for your creative ideas what to do with it. My fiancé already thought we could make it in to a lamp-shade (I hope I used the word right...), but I don't find that very usefull...
