Well it seems that the ECX is nearing its release date, Massmusic now has them up for order on their website. Not too bad of a price for a maple kit, but I don't know the origin of the maple, so I'm going to wait to play it before I praise or criticize it. The one thing I would like would be more finishes though (some fade and burst finishes would be nice)

Well this seems like a nice kit. My friend has an obsession over pearl and he wants to buy a kit, I think I may tell him to check these out. Thanks for posting!

I too would like to see some more finishes.

Hey why does everyone always bag on the ISS. They might be a bad idea in the long run but they serve their purpose very nicely.

I am looking forward to this kit personally. My next upgrade will be much higher than an export (probably even DW) but hey, this is good news for high-entry level.

you could always buy an opti-mount system(not too expensive) and save money, so I really don't think that is a valid arguement against them.

Opti-mounts suck too, never liked the opti-mounts and have had some experience with them and they did nothing but irritate me. Pearl would be great if they just went with a different mounting system.

Yep, this is just Pearl trying to bridge the gap between the low-end and the high end drums. It's the same idea as the Session Series, but just a little bit below it.

I have no opinion either way, I'm not in the market for that sort of kit. Just don't lit finny start on the I.S.S talk again... (We know, finny, we know...)

Rendezvous, what specifically is the problem you have with the optimounts? I'd like to know.

Just found them to be much of a hassle, like how people find the nouveau lugs a hassle. I don't like that they put tension on the lug rods because it leads to de-tuning of the toms. A couple of my friends play references and I was amazed at how fast they became out of tune.
