Practise pads

Hello,

In the place where I live, music gear shops have only three or so different models of practise pads and they all seem to suck. So I went online :)
What kind of practise pads do you use/recommend and why?

Any of those pads are good. Many drummers I've talked to seem to like the real feel. I have a real feel pad and it has a nice response and it's not loud like the Remo practice pads can be. I would suggest getting 2 different pads (made by 2 different companies) if you can. Each pad will have its own response when the stick strikes it. Since a drum set has many surfaces with variable responses (e.g. cymbal vs. wood block vs. snare) then practicing on one surface all the time may not be the best way to refine the control you need for optimal set playing.

I realize your question was simple, and I didn't need to add all that extra stuff. So if I had to pick I would say real feel, just remember its only my opinion.

Real head, real rim, authentic feel. Put it on top of the snare drum and the sound transfers, setting off the snares. Great for practicing buzz rolls or any technique.

id say go for the real feel, i own one, and i love it. however, its the only practise pad ive ever owned.

Here's my two cents.

I like the Real Feel 2 sided pad. The soft side is quiet and has nice rebound. The hard side offers very clear, sharp articulation of each stroke and allows you to really work on making sure you're strokes are even.

Another vote for the realfeal. It is the only pad Ive owned, because its the only one I needed to own...thats how nice it is.

Get the double sided one as said before. Both sides will help with your chops.
I also think that I got one of the newer ones that are grey...it says that they are more quality than their previous ones and perform better. Now everyone in my percussion section in band is jealous. : )

So, that is it. I have ordered real feel two-sided. I hope that it will meet my expectations, because of the price paid being five times bigger than of the average pad where I live (I live in Lithuania, ordered from Germany, so shipment costs + money transfer fee and so on).
