and practice pads?

guys what about a good practice pad? i've been practicing on my pillow but i don' get good results. which is a good practice pad for you?

I own a Vic Firth Slim Pad and it works fine... though I've ever owned any other practice pads, so I wouldn't really know what to compare it to.

I use the RealFeel yellow. The black side was causing some tendonitis.

I like the x-pads. They have beads in them to give them a little snare sound, which makes the dynamics much more realistic than just using a rubber pad.

is there any news on that four surface pad that pat pertillo had developed? because that looked really interesting... different degrees of rebound/feel... cymbals obviously feel different to a large tom. I wanna try that one.

But realistically, just about any standard pad will do. I use the basic 8" Billy Hyde pad ad it's fine.

There is a pretty big thread on pads im pretty sure.

But my favorite pads are the remo ones because they are like a real snare (not in sound). You can adjust the sounds and tightness with a screw driver, and it has rims.

But im thinking about getting one of those octagonal or hexagonal or w/e pads because they probably wont break. I recently broke the rim on my pad and so part of it is jutting out. I can still play it fine though.

those factors are nice, but the thing that turns me away from the remos (i used to have one) is the volume. they're considerably louder than reelfeels, x-pads, etc. i just prefer the quietness to the realistic feel.

also, i have a xymox - basically an x-pad with a different name. it's pretty nice - realistic snare sound. but i think i need a realfeel because (once again) i'd just like something a bit quieter. not that the xymox is loud, just louder than a realfeel.

Real feels are the way to go along with the vic firth pads. The remo ones are stupid...so damn loud!

or you could get a block of wood, and glue an old mouse pad on it.
