I just received my snare ( 10 x 5.5 Mapex "pro snare" (steel snare))
So this is a recording of today's pratice with it (well the end of it... I wont post rudiment part of it, haha)
Here (http://media.putfile.com/soloof-drums-)
umm.... theres some errors in it.... its not perfect, ( the playing ) that tends to happen when i think too much...
EDIT: wow.. I really have to retune my toms, I hate pitch bends.

Sounds great! It's only about $100, right? I might need to pick one of those up. Nice playing, as well.

Incredible groove there!
I hope someday I can groove like that. I can't even fathom doing that.
Great sounding snare also!

man i cant listen to your recording rigth now,im in college!haha!hows it sound??i was looking into 10" snares....i wanted to get a small snare to use basically as a main snare....an use my 14" as my aux),but ive seen a 12" DW snare, beautiful,in Dublin,so i may go for that instead....
When you say mapex its not a Black Panther is it?

Haha, that was some nice grooving clip.
Also congrats to your snare drum and to this great deal! Sounds kinda ringy but very tight. I`d also like it!
mhh, and another question:
Have you changed your Ride cymbal...or just the mic position? Sounds better now...

I like my snares to ring :)
I found a very cheap karaokee microphone in my house, bought a "Y" wire, hooked my SM58 and the cheap microphone in it, hooked that to my computer and voila.
Only probleme is that I cant put a mic louder than the other, and when i plug both microphone the sm58 records less, but i gain more stick definition on the ride/hi hat/ toms..

(the sm58 is in the bass drum and im using the cheap mic as an overhead.
ill take better pictures of my kit later because right now my room is a mess.

no its not a black panther, and i would'nt use a 10 as a main snare, but maybe a 13 or 12 max. The 10in snare sound to small for a main snare, well this one does... altough I haven't changed the heads yet.

Well i played a Pearl Firecracker tonight and it really does sound like what i want....but maybe just to be on teh safe side ill go for some sort of 12"....just might not spend €400 on it!!!hahaha!
and i know ive gotten loads of you saying that the 10" wouldnt be loud enough to cut through the mix etc.?but i dont find that too much of a problem since ill mostly be playin with a miced up kit?
but i do value everyones opinion and im contemplating...contemplating it!

Dude, sweet. Like Karl said, just a leeeeetle bit ringy, but you like it that way so coolio. And the china sounds great. I know what you mean about thinking too much. I think I would be ten times better if I could just shut my brain off while playing.
By the way, I like your current avatar.

I also like my snares to ring just a little bit, and when the ring fits the style of play....oh how the blend is wonderful. And in my opinion it fits your style well.
Love your grooves too.
