Seems nice even if Zildjian sound samples are rather rubbish. Alot of rock drummers have taken it up as a main ride but I haven't had any chance to play one. I doubt many here have seeing as its so new. Methinks this will be a must have ride for all the punk kids who love to copy their fav drummers set up (nothing wrong with that!). Wonder if it still works well for jazz. If it does then thats a versitile beast.

No, havn`t checked it live yet...but as this cymbal is a THIN-weight K this sounds really interessting. Just listened to the online sample and it sounds cool...

I`d like to try out a 22" model, I find 24" a bit too big...

It's only available in a 24" so far. I play alot of jazz and like alot of wash. I can't wait to try one out.

Another new find: http://www.zildjian.com/EN-US/products/default.ad2?catalogID=-1

I like the sound of the 16" spiral trash.

Sounds like the Stan Kenton signature model......

My Jazz Band director at college used to play in Stan's band and would tell a story about this 24" cymbal that Stan would make the drummer use. He said it was really, really, really loud........

I guess that they will need a custom cymbal bag as well! I was kind of wondering about the ROCK statement.....Hello, warranty department? Every time I hear Zildjian say something about "complex enough for jazz but works in a Rock setting", I think of all of those K Customs that the artists received and the crappy ones we got to buy in the stores.

Mike,

That's exactly what i was thinking. 24" is a huge cymbal and is perfect in a big band.
Looks like Zildjian is in recycle mode. There were plenty of these beasts in the 70's.
Now they are being marketed to the yutes.

Sounds neat but alittle unimpressive for basically a cracked cymbal that has run it's course into a spiral shape.

FYI, regarding the Zildjian 24" K Light Ride, here's a guy from Cymbalholic that recorded his:

Thanks for sharing, that was far better than zildjian's small soundbyte.

Tell me about it. I have Paiste 24 ride and the only cymbal case I can find for it costs half the price of the ride itself! If anyone has a 24 ride here how do you transport it without buying that huge cymbal hardcase?

Yeah,

I remember that the Medium Ride could be had in a 24" size and maybe the Ping Ride as well. I guess you bolted it to the tour bus wheel for easier transport.

Ha!

Didn't the Romans use a 24" medium for shields to carry into battle?
