here's a simple beat with 16th notes on the hihat, and snare on 2 and 4. i tried to make it sound 'in between the cracks', so i played it kinda half-shuffled. what do you think about that?

Again I love it. So, what to say more? lol
the only thing would be to keep up working on the consistence of the shuffling...but other than that it was groovy.
PS: Sorry if I ask again but what Ride cymbal did you mainly use?

Yeah what is your ride cymbal?
I love the sound of it.

1. yeah Karl, i know what you mean. my shuffling on the ride is more 'straight' and the one on the hihat rather 'swung'. i didn't practice it a lot, but i'm definitely going to.
2. the ride is bosphorus traditional medium 22'.

Hey, I have also problems with "full" shuffle playing, it is finger work...haha :-)
PS: I thought you`d have a Wide Ride...mhhh...or do you have some Fat hats?

oh my god, this is DEFINITLY not by best day...... :-D
but anyway, I`m shocked (haha, not really), no cymbal of Sir Moore`s line? ;-)
How do you like Stanton`s series?

Again, great stuff man. I'm a fan. I agree with the ride not feeling as swung as the hi-hat I find it more difficult to get a good shuffle feel on the ride for some reason.
Do you bury the beater into the head? It almost sounds like it's "chattering" against the head. Just curious :)

Karl... I LOVE THEM! :) they're just too expensive though. since Bosphorus has its dealer in Poland it's not so easy to get a good price (it's actually impossible). buuuuut... just for you to know, before Stanton got his own signature series, he's been playing exactly the hihat and the ride i got now, so point for me! :D

I really like its sound, nice controlled wash and a very solid ping.
So...give us more, your way of expression and your style is coool!

actually i'm not hitting it THAT hard :). it's probably due to bad tuning or the quality of recording. generally i'm not satisfied with this sound, i didn't tune it properly that day, i think... the batter is too loose and the reso too tight. :)
i like the bass more on this recording http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22236 . it was recorded later, and i tuned it to sound more... hmm "round"? full? you name it, but you'll probably hear the difference :).

Maybe it's just me. I still hear Bbbb Bbbb with each hit. Regardless, great drum tone, groove and feel man :)
