I've tried both and honestly I don't see much of a difference between the two. Durability, well I've never had any experience tested any head's durability as I've never broken a head (I take that back, I broke a snare head once after that coating flaked off). Tone wise they're very similar although I think maybe the G2 has a slightly smoother tone, but that's about it.

I have tried both. I have used coated emperors on ALL batter heads for about 75% of almost 20 years playing. Last year I put coated G2's on my drums. The made the drums sound great. For me its a different feel. I think I am so used to the feel that I am planning on switching back to C.Emperors. I will try a clear bass head though. Personal preference. They are both good, but i think I am stuck on remo's. But they make a smooth and original coated. I prefer the original. A little grainy feel.

I have used both, and prefer coated emperors on toms and snare batter. I can't say there's really a noticable difference in sound or tuning range, it's more of a "feel" thing for me. The Emperors "feel" heavier to me, and that's the sound/feel i'm looking for.
