If I were to use finger on my right hand on single strokes, how would I do it on traditional, or my left hand? Any videos that explain?

Thanks....

Art Verdi has a teaser of his dvd explaining this inger concept on traditional!
It's one of the best explinations about finger control on trad.
Search for it on google...
Good luck! ;)

That's not finger technique on traditional...
He's just showing how to hold the stick on traditional and explaining on exercise to get the feel of it =)

both art verdi and joe morello combine finger technique w/ wrist/finger technique when playing trad grip. check out both of those sources for information.

Are you sure that Art combines the wrist with the fingers?
Because on his teaser, he says that the best way to get fortable with the finger technique is to isolate your wrist with the other hand...

I saw a video on Art. He's just using his thumb and palm to hit. Is that what he does or do I need a closer look?

So it's like the traditional grip thumb technique?

Joe Morello and Art Verdi do not use the thumb when using finger technique
They use the index finger mostly
I saw videos of both drummers doing this

Dave Weckl gives a great view of finger style in his video how to develop technique

I've recently been told that my left wrist is moving too much. Is there a video that shows a fast single stroke that shows the left hand?

Check videos from Art Verdi on his site.

So I'm looking specifically at the intense snare work.

I don't quite get how he used his index finger. I need more explanation.
