I'm in a band!!!!!! YEEEES!!!!!!!

I have been in bands before, but it's been a while since my last band, so this is so cool!!!

The first thing we're gonna do is record some songs to send out, so we can get some gigs, so i hope i can upload some playing here soon :) :) :)

I'm soooo happy about it - it's just GREAT to be in a band again :)

I'm so excited about it, even though i've been in bands before, it feels just like "the first time" - it's such a supercool feeling!! We have already talked some about how we are as persons, both musicly speaking but also just how we are, uhm, you know... i mean the "chemistry" between us seems to be good, and that's so cool. I think the guys in the band are really cool and nice:)

I forgot to tell you what we'll be playing, dumb me, doh... It's gonna be blues in the rocky end of the spectrum, so we're gonna have quite a few eightnote-feeling songs, but also some real slow triplet-feeling songs. We're gonna play mostly cover, but they said they've worked on a few original songs of their own, so that's gonna be cool to!! :):):):):):):):):):)

good on ya man! i recon being in a band helps u improve ur playing loads! as well as ur social skills :P

Covers r always a good start! get used to eachothers styles, and tastes in music, then harness all tht, and make ur on new sound =] then start writing ur own stuff and u will be flying! good luck!!

Playing covers for us is not just about getting to know eachother - i agree that it's a great way to do that though - but the plan is to play covers to get gigs and have fun with that, and the originals is kindof a side projekt. I mean the main purpose of the band is just to play good together and then get a lot of gigs. But then again, who knows what the future will bring? I hope it brings a lot of groove and good times!! :)

just jam along..get ur guitaist to play a riff, and drum along and stick sum bass in there..jamming is great as it gets lots of ideas flowing and before u know it a song will be forming!

I also like the jamming-way of making new songs, but when we're gonna do any original songs we're probably going to start with the ones they already have, so there's a long way ahead of us filled with "fun work" :)

hmmm, that doesn't sound so good? but if your guitarist and you band get some good inspiration from your creative beats and they then are able to invent something new, now that's cool! As long as you dont have to actually create the riffs and write the lyrics and do everything. If that were so, then i would say it's time you found a new band...

Well i do write the lyrics,
but theres really nobody else looking to be in a band in my area so i guess i have to deal with things...heck if we get amazing, then I will just hire a manager and a writer for all that stuff lol.

There's no bands in my area either. I have to commute 1 hour 20 minutes away from my home to be in this new band, but hey!!

But it's your choice of course - If you like writing the lyrics then that's definatly cool too! You'll sure learn alot from it, so there's no harm in that. I didn't mean it so "negative" as it might sound...
