I'm wondering about these two different symbols (not cymbals, symbols, the bit that says sabian aax).
Which is newer, and which one matches the sound sample on the sabian website.
Im talking about the size of the AAX writing, not the cymbal itself, these are just examples!
Thanks for any responses.

After having a look on the Sabian site in their on-line catalogue, I'd say the logo on the right is newer, but there's quite a few auctions up on Ebay allegedly showing new cymbals with the other logo, I'd probably go with Sabians catalogue having more up to date pictures in it.
it might only ne me
but isnt the bell and around the bell different on the left one that on the right
*might be my eyes tho*

I think the left one is the newer one. I have the same as the right one, and I bought it just under a year ago. A friend of me has the left one and it is a few years old.
I am noe 100% sure, but pretty sure...

theyre gonna be different because they arent actually the same cymbal.
i think 1 is a 19" and the other is an 18". they are just examples of the logo.
thanks for all the replies, i looked on the sabian website and it looks like the small logo is newer.
ps. mofle, what is the one on the left (18" stage crash) like? i was mabye thinking of getting it on ebay if the bids dont go too high.

I got a new stage crash about a week ago and its the logo is the same as the one on the left
Its the same for the AAXsplosion crashes. They used to have their own logo for those crashes but now just have the standard AAX logo like the left pic

It ig a great cymbal for lighter rock and pop. I would not get it for metal og jazz though, though I only have it in 16''. But I would say go for it, if you get a good price.

Bigger logo = new cymbals
Smaller logo = older cymbals

if this is so how come the sabian website shows the small logo?

that was my point aswell, sureley the sabian website would have the more up to date logos on it. Been trying to think back to when my cymbals still had the logo on, and I'm sure they hade the larger one, can't be totally sure though

Could be a case of them not updating the photos, not sure. Just look at the new products section. All of the cymbals in the forum have the new giant logo (which IMO looks like crap). Just like the new hand hammered have it typed out ridiculously huge. I've owned tons of Sabians and the older ones have the smaller logo but what the hell do I know.

Perhaps cos that would mean taking loads of new pics in the older style of all the images on the website alredy. Alot of money for something so small. Thats just my thought on it.

the reason i started this thread was because i was wondering if the older sabian's sounded different from the new ones, because i would be basing my purchase on the sound samples from the website.
i dont care too much about the logo, its the sound i care about!
:D

The sound will ofcourse be different, because older ones are ''aged'', or used if you want. So they will sound differently. But hey, what cymbals are totally alike

The left one is newer even if it look more aged.

Look at the PDF catalog, they have all the new bigger logo.

Sabian don't update their website all that much. Example? Sure. Take a look at the pics of Tomas Haake at DrummerLive, then look at his setup on the Sabian site. Notice the difference? The cymbal setup he's using now is vastly different to the one shown online. They also show Tomas using "HHX Rock Hats". Good luck finding those, since such a pair of hi hats does not exist. He's actually using HHX Stage hats.
That obviously doesn't relate to the catalogue, but you can see what I'm getting at!

They exist if they made them for him which isn't that out of the ordinary.
