Has anyone used the the Sabian HHX Legacy Hats and/or any of the Legacy Rides, except OZONE and the HEAVY ride, in a live situation? Is it worth buying those or with Zildjian's K's?

Legacy cymbals, with the Evolutions and some HHX my favourite Sabians.
Legacys are darker and trashier than Evolutions but so beautiful. I tested the 21" Ride, the Heavy Ride, the Ozone Ride, some crahses, splahes a bit and the Hi-Hat on the MP music fair and I am totally impressed of that line. I really didn`t expect such a beautiful sound from the Rides. My favourite was the 21" Ride, not so heavy, not overpowering, nice wash, trashy. I`m not the man for the heavy Ride...
overall amazing cymbals, also the heavy Ride but I am just the lighter guy. :-)

I have the Legacy heavy ride, why are you excluding it? It's a great dry defined cymbal for all styles especially jazz. It's the 22 though, the 20 doesn't sound as good.

if you're going to go with sabina hhx, go with evolution. i was playing the legasy's at gc on a dw and i hated them. to washy. dave designed them to be washy and disgusting. them hhx evolutions are much better and more musical. but all around go with k custom

i cant believe that your saying K customs are versitile... they are the driest, non-volume cymbals iv ever played, and quite technically i hate them... BUT id go with evolution.. i really like them! vibrant, bright sounds

That's what I'm looking for. A dry sound. I guess it personal taste.

I'm not really sure what the point of the Legacy models was. I guess people like that trashy weird stuff. I've never seen Evolutions as our stores only carry b8s from SABIAN. I can say that K Customs are strange. They stay about the same volume all of the time no matter how you play them. They can get washier the harder you hit them but they still stay quiet. The DARK hi-hats are terrible, the special dry ones sound weird... The medium ride is ok but again not very versatile in sound. My school has a set of K Customs we use in jazz band gigs but I bring my Avedis Zildjians which while werid sounding at least have a versatile range of sound.

I hated the Legacy series. I have 2 trash can lids outside with more body and clarity than those things! The evolutions are different though. They don't have all the wierd trashy overtones.

I own a 17" legacy crash an it blends Perfect with an 16" aaxplosion, 21" AA raw bell dry ride, And meinl Byzance 13" dark hats. Legacy's are Awsome.. Musical?? They have some of the Most complex overtones i have Ever heard. You have all the right to dislike them.. But that dosent mean they are not some of the best cymbals Sabian offers.

Im not a big fan of the Legacy cymbals. I think the splashes are alright and the hihats, but thats bout it for me. I would stick with the K's.
But the evolutions on the other hand, those are great cymbals. Especially the crashes.
