looks aren't everything dude. i wanted my set to look just like atom willard's, and i almost pulled both of my arms playing them that high. if you're comfortable with it, than keep them, but if it's just for looks, i'd lower them a little.

Yea lower those cymbals. It looks really stupid (imo) Having to reach for them just effects your playing more

and how do you ride on your ride? You stand up or something?

Dont mind TopCat, anyway that looks good or at least the set does. If you like them or should I say love them that high, then keep it that way, if not you may want to lower them 1 or 2 .........-cough- feet -cough-....j/k.

Nice kit, High Cymbals ;) Is it just me or is that Floor Tom 12x14" ?? That doesn't look like a 14x14" Floor Tom ;)

It looks like a 14x14 to me, BE careful with those high cymbals, might be alright for a while but playing with cymbal at that angle could cause you shoulder injuries on the long run. The kit will look just as good with lower cymbals and comfortable tom angle.

Are those spaun made out of maple, i guess they are keller shells, Looks great in green

Nice kit, finish, cymbals. Set-up is not my thing, but if you like it, why not. Just don't do your-self an injury that puts you out of drumming for a month.

Does the Mini Cup make a decent crash?
I'm assuming that you use it mostly as a crash/ride
due to the obvious affinity for Mr. Barker.
Is it fairly washy? Bright?

Thanks.

thank you for all of the informing comments

but

1. the cymbals ARENT as high as they look
2. the toms ARENT angled away from me. just perfectly flat
3. im am extremely comfortable playing my cymbals like this
4. i can ride my ride. ( that goes to show how high they actually are)
5. the ride sounds good when its rided. not so much when crashed.
6. trust me, in real life, the cymbals arent that high
7. this post was basically made to show what i did wqith the bassdrum.

bye and thank you

Then why not trying to take better pictures of them so we can see what you mean? You dont need to get all defensive about it. Besides, you shouldnt of put "awesome" in the headline. You kit is not awesome, its a basic, cool kit. I mean it has a really nice finish but not over the top, top of the line stuff. I am not trying to be rude here, just being straight forward.

Dude, I love the set..very nice. and I like the high cymbals, of course i'm 6'3 with a 6'8 arm span. My friend trevor was playing with a band where the leader made him put his cymbals about a 2 feet higher so it looked better and made hima more visual player. Now he can't play them lower. I like it, good job.

Those cymbals are high who are you kidding.

Barker set ups are stupid anyways. That just a perfect example of a set up that will cause you injury's because there is no good technique to hit your cymbals high or low tom's on a 90 degree angle.

You guys need to calm down. Seriously. Just because his kit resembles Barkers who drum purist dont love because he's a little overrated doesnt mean you need to flame him. I doubt his cymbals are really that high. Take this kit for example. http://drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22682.

I like the green sparkle on your kit and your ports look great. (if i didnt have something nice to say i would have not posted and moved on instead of saying something rude)

haha, just because his stuff is high, doesn't mean he is playing a barker rip off.

my set (if anything) is an Andrew "Angel" Bartolotta rip off. (with much less floor toms)

Meh, my highest drum, my rack tom, is 2 feet from the floor, and my highest cymbal (crashes) is about 4 feet, maybe taller.

If it was uncomfortable for him, he might think to change it. 6 feet is plenty tall to play that rig.

I am 6'3, but drums are RIGHT where i want them. Im sure he is the same.

agreed. Also, i'm 6 foot atleast, i play cymbals lower then higher most of the time, i also have my drums somewhat low. definitely not too low tho. It all comes down to personal preference! if your short and like them higher then normal, or vice versa, its cool. As long as your not doing something that could cause injury and it "works" for you, all the power to ya. And ah why does everyone say travis barker. pisses me off.
I bet 90% of the ppl that play like this never thought of being like travis barker.

and, no need to rag on him, he's the best part of any band he's in. i have respect for him.

Im 6.1 and unless his bass is 16" and sits super high those cymbals are ridiculously high

Great looking AWESOME set...I love that color. I been hearing some nice things about Spaun.

What kind of rings are those around the bass hole?? Looks like Garlock Gasket material.

That floor tom is definitly not a 14x14. Square sizes are easily noticable, and this is what a 14x14 floor looks like...

yo. When someone posts a picture of thier set, don't sit there and go, I think that sucks because I would do it this way. If he likes his cymbals high, let him be. I think it looks better too anyhow. Not to mention it gives you more room to move around. If everything is low, all of your movements are tight and controlled, whereas with the high cymbals you can use broader motions. Even if this is technically wrong, its economically more sensible because your arms will tire slower then your wrists during a set. So there are plenty of upsides to the high cymbals, but its really not our decision to make for him.

Man that is a cool looking set with an awsome sparkle. Id love to see pics from the drivers seat. And i know what you mean, I pictured myself sitting there and the cymbals are not as high as they look to be.

you guys who are talking smack are obviouslly doing it to make yourselfs feel better.
i remember hearing his band, and damn he can play.

theres no point in putting someone elses set down, just cause you have a bias over it. i think it has to do with everyone whos said bad stuff just wishes they had the quality of kit you do bro. dont listen to it.

personally, your bassdrum heads looks a little to flashy for me, but if you like it that way, its cool. i like how the rings match the finish.
did it affect the sound alot?

i don't belive i'd put it as "talking smack" i'd see it as helpful and critical adivse. plus barker has recently lowered his cymbals (in case you're wanting to look like his set) because he recently broke his arm due to high stands. i see that as a fare warning.

We are not putting him down, simply telling him he shouldn't having his cymbals SO high that he has to reach for them and just injure himself after a while. Maybe it is the pictures, but then why wouldnt he put another picture up to disprove us? Either those are REALLY bad pictures of his set, which Im not saying there not, or his cymbals ARE way to high and his tom angles look a little funny. I know you are trying to stick up for him, BUT he put Awesome in the headline. Now if his kit WAS awesome, I guess it would be fine, but even then wouldnt you say thats a little arrogant or do you think he is super duper ultra heavy duty proud of his kit and thinks he should make sure that EVERYONE sees it? Yes I bet he play the crap out of those drums! Thats good. But your saying that we wish we had that quality??? Yeah right, no offense but I will pass.....

honsetly, i can't tell what you did to the bass. if it's those to holes, than awsome, what'd you cut them with? and did you color around the edge with magic marker? but awsome set. i love the green sparkle. of and another question, where did you find that 19" k custom?

materials are used are the following
butter knife
white paper
permanent marker
tape
i think it deosn look that bad for what i used
and by the way. i got the 19 inch k custom from my friend dylan for 120 bucks pretty decent deal

I think your set looks great. So many of the sets here look very professional and classy but terribly dull and conformist. I dig anyone who's doing something different (check out my set at http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18719 to see another unsual setup).

If you can handle playing such high cymbals, they certainly add to your visual interest and stage presence. The dummer is the most exciting person to watch and yet they're usually shrouded behind drums and cymbals. Your setup provides great exposure to the audience. I'd worry about them falling over more than anything.

Your setup may seem awkward to a lot of people, but as an open player, I think it's awkward 95 percent of drummers play crossed and with their hi-hat and cymbals four feet apart or more. It's just a matter of perception.
