I'm looking for a ride that's versitle enough to get a decent ping sound from but also thin enough to do some crashing on and a lot of crash riding. I was looking at the 22" or possibly even a 24" Zildjian Avedis Medium Ride or a Sweet Ride. It seems that the medium ride has more of a clear ping to it than the sweet ride. The sweet ride seems to have more wash even though they are the same weights. Any thoughts?

I'd say the most versatile Zildjians would be vintage, but if you're looking in todays models, those A models like the Sweet ride, as well as some of the K models would be good choices.

Yes, the Sweet Ride is much more washier, but I dont believe the Medium ride and the Sweet Ride are the same weights. The Medium is only slightly heavier than the Sweet Ride, which is why the Sweet Ride is more washy than the Medium Ride. If your looking for a ride to go along with mostly jazz that can crash well and play some rock, I think the Sweet Ride is your best bet. If your looking for a rock ride and still a moderatley good crash, the Medium Ride might be better for you (I'd probably go with a 20" or a 22" if your looking for versatility, a 24" is more rock-oriented).
Hope this helps!

The Sweet Ride tends to get the votes around here. The regular medium ride is certainly not worth buying. I own the 20" version of this thing and its pretty heavy and loud. The Sweet Ride is basically a 21" medium ride so it has a bit more you can do with it. The K Custom Medium Ride is also pretty nice. It's not my ultimate favorite ride but it will play anything as well. Essentially this is the typical Zildjian medium ride but with a more controlled sound. That's about it with my experience. People swear by the 22" K Ride too as well as the 22" Constantinople Medium ride. The 22" K Custom Ride is another one to look at (it's on the heavy side though).

Also, you could check out the 22'' K Ride, it isn't necessarily 'pingy' but it does have fairly defined sticking due to its dryer sound.

20 or 22" A custom Ping ride. Really versitile, is great for rock, jazz, funk and alot of other music. And of course, its pingy. Also the sweet ride is pretty nice too.

I say the A Custom Sweet Ride and the K Zildjian rides are definitely the more versatile, probably the K Zildjian ride being more versatile out of the two.

no way can you crash the k custom ride. i played my teachers older one for awhile and it rings forever. great sound but extremely long sustain. the new A ping rides are horrible in my opinion but if you ca find an older one they are amazing.
