Hey guys, finally got my new snare....I don't think I could have asked for a better drum to become the newest addition to my family. Lots of bottom end, a pop that will make your ears bleed, and a beautiful finish made me fall in love with this drum. Here's some pictures, along with the rest of my kit. The snare is 6x14 12 ply Bubinga.
The last pic is of the other newest addition to the family. Any suggestions on how to get her used to me playing? She freaks out whenever I play....

That last pic is awesome! I'm not sure if you can get a small dog used to the drums. I have a black lab and she'll actually lay at my feet while I'm playing. She could care less. I try not to keep her around when I'm playing though becasue I don't want to damage her ears.
Nice kit BTW.

Geez ! What a beauty (the snare !!!)
Glad for you that you pick TAMA, to my knowledge, you're the first one I see owning this snare (I'm on many drummer forum). Post sound clip as soon as you can !!!
Congrats :-)
For your last request... leave the dog outside while you play, dog can hear 10 times what we can so year those ears can bleed.

I definitely have to be careful with her, thats for sure (the dog and the snare, lol)
I will post a sound clip asap, as soon as my mac (with my recording software) gets back from the shop. I'm in love with this drum though...it's truly something special. Thanks for the comments!!!

haha yeah she's pretty cool, sleeping on the couch at the moment...But that snare is well worth the investment. If you want something that cane easily become your signature, pick one of these up....600 was a bit steep, but I got a deal on it. I only paid 500. Amazing drum though..

Sweeeeeeeeet...............I've wanted one since I first saw them. YOU are now my drummerworld hero of the week, sorry mfb.
And the dog will eventually get used to it..............just make sure it's NOT IN your bass drum when you start...not pretty.

A meaty pop? lol, you have a way with words, but I understand what your saying! : )
That is a BEAUTY you got there, both the dog and snare. Warlords are one of my favorite types of snares, probably in my top 5.
One Warlord snare-600$
One Iron Cobra Double Bass Pedal- 250$(A little random)
A dog like that- Priceless.

Wow guys, thanks for all the compliments! Wega, i've been playing open for about 10 years now...It took the same amount of time to finally find the setup that felt comfortable to me. It's a dream to play (the snare and the setup), now I just wish the dog wasn't so scared of it...
Drumsword, I'm glad I could be your hero of the week..that means a lot to me, lol...
It definitely is a very high quality piece.
I'll be posting sound clips as soon as possible, I just need to get my recording rig back in order. better recorded clips can also be found on Tama's website of all the warlord series drums.

i listened to all of the warlords at tama.com and found them all overpriced for the sound i was hearing..... do you think you had to go to the bubinga to get a good sound?
i wonder how the mike portenoy snare stands up for the same price????

that's a great kit you got there and the finish on that snare is just beautiful. the only thing that bothers me about those warlord series is that to me they seem more to be like a toy than an instrument (that does not take away that I do think they look really cool though). anyway I don't want to argue about that, I think I'd better hear one for real first :)

Actually a good choice!
The sound of them aren`t my personal choice but cares about my choice? I hope you like it.
PS: Though: The look, Tama quality is my choice!

As I said before, very expensive, but it truly is a work of art. The reason I went to bubinga was to get the tunning range. I would need an 8 inch deep maple drum, and then maybe some, to get the tunning spectrum I can get out of bubinga. This drum can make so many different sounds..tune it nice and open for a jazzy overtone, tighten it up on bottom and loosen the top for a killer rock sound....A very versatile instrument. I'll get clips posted asap.

I have several high end snares and they are always worth the money. A snare for a drummer is like another guitar for a guitarist, ie most have several. Bubinga is amazing wood, good for you. Its a killer kit and snare you have there and that puppy is adorable.
Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words Junglelord, i appreciate the support. You're absolutely right about snares being like a guitar for guitarists. It's our signature, so to speak, and having the right snare for the right sound is crucial. This is really the first high end snare I have owned (aside from my spaun).....do you think it's a good choice jungle? You seem to have more experience than I do. The pup is great, she's still not warming up to the drums though...

beautiful snare, I love them (don't have the $ to drop on my own though). The finish is undeniably perfect with the set, which looks great too, and the dog's finish...err, fur color matches the set well too.

Good to see another Session Custom owner. The snare is beautiful. I love the look of it, and I'm sure the sound is great as well. I still can't get over the price, but maybe some clips will help me with that too...

The gem stones are black crystals, and they look ttotally sick. As for the dog's fur, I made sure she would match, lol. And the sessions kits are a great setup for the money. I love them dearly. thanks again for all the kind words.

That's an impressive looking snare. I like Tama drums. I used to own a Tama kit. But I think their product names are sometimes questionable. "Warlord?" Are you supposed to use it to play music or to conquer Outer Mongolia?
matt986
01-16-2007, 02:01 AM
I def. think i could take over outer Mongolia with this. It's a beast!!
