I just kinda put on a metronome and played for 10 minutes, and this is about 5 minutes of what was decent. There are a few awkward parts that I'm aware of, but let me know what you think any way.
I think the drums sound awesome...just captured through a camcorder and cheap 10 dollar shotgun mic.

excellent drumming my friend. Those nice tasty fills and delicous grooves just put my tastebuds in a whirl... It was a similair reaction of that when the "heavy" folk see a McDonalds. Kudos

Fantastic stuff mate, quick quetsion - what hihats were you using, ive been using very heavy hihats and am thinking of purchasing a thinner set...
But seriously, great work, i even liked the blastbeats you threw in around the middle section!

The hi hats are some mid to late 70s Zildjian New Beats...the originals, my man. I found those on EBay for 120 bucks and bought them on the spot. I use them in my metal band and my funk band...very versatile.

Check out the link in my sig...it goes to the 'Your Gear' page I put up for it.
For a quick reference, it's a Birch Gretsch Catalina kit with Zildjian Cymbals.
Sweet video, digging the grooves!

That wasn't a blastbeat.

Hey, good playing, mate.
You might want to throw in a few more double-strokes in your playing to get even more variation and dynamics.
Keep up the good work. You're talented.
Cheers

Christ you remind me of me. You have the same first name, groove in a similiar way, are at a similiar level of skill (although you're better than me), and like metal but think the scene in the area sucks. Although your drums ARE better.
Yea, that was pretty sweet.

Hey man! Some really nice grooves in there, keep it up... but ill be honest, and i really think the screws need tightened a bit, a lot of playing was very loose and "lazy" at times, which in my opinion takes away from the groove. Just get it going a bit more tight, but still relaxed ;)
P.S love your cymbal choice!

I think the drums sound great! I really like the ride patterns you played too..............the only thing I notice at first view is that your feet are a little week compared to your hands, but thats just nitpicking..great work! Post more soon!

I play along to alot of different stuff...you'd be surprised from the way that I play who some of my influences are.
Mike Portnoy
Joey Jordison
Ryan Dusick (Maroon 5)
Jason Rullo (Symphony X)
Carter Beauford
Adam Carson (AFI)
I'm getting into some Stanton Moore and Dave Garibaldi stuff, so my style will sound totally different by the end of the month, I'd bet.
Thanks for all the feedback!

It was just a cheap Sennheiser shotgun mic attached to the camera itself. Nothing special, really, but it gets a really nice sound, I think.

very nice playing, you show proffenciency in more than one playing style and that is good. I also appreciate that you didn't try to impersonate a sped up Dennis Chambers solo. Great work!

Ah, another Jason Rullo fan! Criminally underrated drummer, imo. He's like Portnoy with a little less technicality and way more originality and all around tasteful playing.
