Hello,
5 of my 8 pieces have come in. I am waiting for my snare, 13 and 18 toms.
I put them up on my rack and started playing. Standard tom heads are g2 over g1. Didn't have to buy them.
I bought a Remo Powersonic for the 22 bass drum. I like the fact that I don't need to mount a pillow inside the drum.
Pictures do not do it justice. An extremely beautiful kit. I am certainly not good enough to play on such a kit, but will practice hard until I feel justified!
Sizes on the kit are 8x7 10x8 12x10 and 16x14.
The kit looks amazing with the Paragon cymbals. Perfect contrast.
My 13 should be here in just a couple more days. My 18 isn't due until March.
Sound is amazing. I also like the focus of the 'fast' toms.
I love my VP snare sound but it looks horrible with this kit. I am not going to sell it and hope the 14 that matches the kit sounds good. If it doesn't sound so good, I might try to find a ludwig supraphonic 402 or a DW Edge snare.
By the way, I just finished Tom Sawyer before the new kit arrived with just 2 minor mistakes with the CD. It is nice when you make progress.
Tell what you think!
WOW it looks great! i have always had a love for starclassics. You cymbals look great too. how do you like that bass head? does it compare to a superkick II or the EMAD
ist the powersonic bass head made by REMO not EVANS?

I haven't ever had the pleasure of playing a superkick 2.
I do like the Remo Powersonic so far. Very comparable to the EMAD. That is what I used previously.
I thought I would give it a try. I will buy a powersonic again. It is a little less focused than the emad, but still focused. It is just booming enough.
Thanks for your response.

A few things.....
First, nice kit!! CONGRATS
Second.......you said "I like the focus of my FAST toms" ...only 2 of your toms would be considered FAST, ...the 8 and 10....the 12 and 16 are not.
Third,...where are the 13 and 18 going to go?

Nice kit! I have just got the Performer B/B, is yours the 100% birch? Either way amazing, and your right, pictures do not do justice to the sparkle finishes on the new Starclassic's. All the best.

The Performers are solid birch.
Love the Vinnie Paul snare. It sounds great.
Cymbals are all from the last year or so. I love them.
My 13 is going to go right above the bass drum next to the 12. My 18 will be my second floor tom and will go behind my 16 on my right side.
that is a stunning kit with a stunning finish!!!

Great kit. Good choice with the Starclassics :). Finish and cymbals look great too.
BTW How do you like the new Powersonic? I was planning on trying one but was convinced to go with the SKI.

I don't only use the ahead sticks. However, I am convinced that they are easier on the cymbals if you change the sleeves regularly (which I do). They are softer and have more give than wood sticks.
I haven't completely settled on 'A' stick yet. I have tried numerous, but right now, I am enjoying the ahead sticks.

Holy Moly. That is an amazing choice!!! I love the new Starclassic Performer kits...they sound just awesome. Haha, good that you didn`t buy a Performer in Gold Crush Glitter, I would die now if.
Seriously, beautiful kit and cool cymbals........hope you have fun with it!

Yea but its metal on metal. Its not good for them... Think about it
But do as you please. Your kit rules

The sleaves are kind of a plastic and rubber mixture. There is a metal rod underneath, but the sleaves are very bendable and absorb inpact.
When you hit the bell of the ride with the side of the stick, it is not nearly as pronounced due to the softness of the sleeves. The one major drawback of using the sticks.
If you wait too long to change the soft sleaves, then it will be metal on metal.

It is a chihuahua.
Bought 2 for my wife for christmas 3 years ago. What a friggin mistake.
At night they have to stay in that damn cage because the will piss and crap everywhere!
The one in the picture is the big one. His name is Conan. He weighs about 5 lbs. The small one weighs 4 lbs.
Good dogs other than peeing and crapping everywhere. We had to tile our house due to the carpets they ruined!
Plus, it is so funny to watch them fight!!

I'd sleep under that drum kit any day, he just craps everywhere so he can sleep with it!

Maybe the best Starclassic Performer in the forum....damn you! I'd also switch out the snare if you don't like the look. Props on the Paragons pal.
mikei

I am switching it.
I love the sound, but it is such an eye sore.
I am going to get the Ludwig Supraphonic LM402. Bonham snare!!!
Working out a deal now for a new one.
The chrome snare will look great with the kit. It will be a bit more versitile as well.
Thanks for the compliment!
*** I just found out my 13 and 18 toms are in!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!
I am picking them up tonight. I will take a picture of the set with all of the toms now!!!!

wow mike -- what a beauty!!!! i love the finish. Looks so fun to play. I think the supra is a great addition. I do like pearl snares too, but i would have to agree that the VP looks sort of took away from the coolness of your kit. I love my starclassic, and i have found that the G2 over G1 clear is about the best head combo out there. Awesome stuff!!!!
thats it..... im rewrapping my starclassic. Gold glitter. :D
