Nice one Sheridan, but a bar stool is a tad tooooooo tall.

Ok another thing... my throne has gotten wobbly maxing the height out... scary...
suggestions?
Or should i just put my throne on a box or something....

How high do you want your throne? Your legs are supposed to be parallel to the ground, SLIGHTLY pointed downward, (so knees about mabey an inch lower than thighs). you donjt want to be playing so your leg looks like this sitting on the throne

i hope that made sence. anyways, as far as the comfort, and wobble factor, thats just because its a cheap throne. Play on it till you cant stand it, then find your self a nice comfy, sturdy, and functional throne. If you get it at guitar center, try to get when you get a new kit, because theyw ill give you a discount. i got my $110 DW throne for $70, becasue i bought it with my new FS, as well as two stands.

how high do pork pie big boy thrones extend to.

The rc-n-socs I have used(just sitting behind someones kit) really gave me Problems because the middle of my knee comes to 25" where the roc-n-socs only extend 26" and I like to be quite a bit over my drums.

I don't in anyway mean to be negative, but "supposed to" will usually get a response. Yes, what you described is a reasonably comfortable sitting position and a good starting point, but there are plenty of drummers out there who sit higher and lower than what you described.

Take a look at Steve Smith or Buddy Rich. They both sit very high. Then there's Tommy Lee or Josh Freese who sometimes look like they're sitting in a bucket. It's all about personal preference.

So, when it comes to throne height, there isn't a "supposed to."

I've done the parellel thing. I've even posted a thread on throne heights before experimenting, and sorry but that isn't the Only way to go. I'm experimenting on different heights and trying to see how high I can go without destroying my leg technique. So far, at max height on the cheapo Tama throne (as you've mentioned ;P) my legs are working just fine, even a little better.
