24's are pretty big, have a couple myself. Yeah, sound slike BONHAM!!! That sounds like a sweet kit. Yeah, please post pics if its yours!!

Edit: Why is "subsonic" used in the name, is it really low or does it make the name sound cool?

Peace
AGR

This is a kit that Mapex sell under the heading of Subsonic came out in march 30th 2006 check the Mapex web site. I have not brought this kit yet, just trying to get some feed back before parting with money! The kit is Ltd edition so might be hard to get extra toms is the two colours that Mapex do the kit in, Root Beer Sparkle (EZ) and Regal Blue Sparkle (ZS)

Ahhhhh, this is the kit I was looking at the other day!!! I couldn't believe what I was looking at, I felt like a character from "The Borrowers" (i.e. UK TV Prog with little people that live in shoe boxes and stupid stuff like that!).

I ran out of the shop and down the street screaming "AAARRRGGGHHH!!!"...

...no, seriously, a M A S S I V E piece of machinery for the bold and beautiful. I think I'd have to use 2 hands with one stick to provide the necessary power to get a decent sound out of it.

On closer inspection, well made and an interesting finish. It looked like a gigger's dream - very durable.

Buy 1...if you have the balls!

Yeah its a good kit. Its kind of made without the thought of adding on toms in mind tho cos I think its only those size in the two limited colours. Saturn toms are supposed to sound a size LOWER than they really are cos of the walnut and thin shells. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND!

tabletapper,

You are aware (as per 'location') that I'm in the UK?

Even so, I would say the colour was Rootbeer Sparkle because there was no blue anywhere to be seen!!!

The shop is called 'Rowlands Music' in Swansea, which is a city in Wales, UK. The kit only arrived about a month ago, a few weeks before Christmas I think. The guy you need to speak to is called 'Gareth'. I'm sure he'll help you as much as he can...

I love the subsonic... That bass drum could tear down any wall. I tried a kit at my local shop and as a Saturn owner(6.pc Studio i n mangoburst) it just made me proud:)

No Probs with you location, I'm in Cambridge. Sorry to be a pain in the neck but would you have a contact number for Rowlands? I've not been able to find any pics of the Root Beer Sparkle Colour anywhere yet, hope that Rowlands might e-mail some to me.It's a shame that Mapex will no do different sized toms in the two colours that the kit is available in.

hey dudes! i actually own this beatiful kit...it is the nicest sound kick drum i have ever heard in my life! it sounds like its miked jsut like it is...and the nice deep snare has a nice deep sound but still has a beautiful crak to it. and then the 14 by 10 rack tom is beefy but has a very warm beautiful sound to it. and then the floor toms are the perfect addition to the kit. its just all around amazing! and at a price of like 2600 who wouldnt go for it...
