The least we can say is its an original setup... If you feel comfy, why not ! It give a personal touch.

zilj 242, I'm not sure what made me do that? I think it's old school, so you could still keep your head & rim on the bass but also dampen w/ different options, I did that about 8 yrs ago. I'm definately ready for a new head and bass drum sound!
