Wich ekit to buy?

hi fellas

i was looking for a low or medium priced ekit for practice at home since i get to play acoustic drums only twice a week. i was considering hart prodigy with alesis module because it was the only mesh ekit within my budget but the reviews said it had problems with triggering. does anyone own it here and tell about his experience. also i was considering a yamaha kit except that the pads were all rubber, and i am not sure whether the small kick pad will accomodate double bass. also, for a begginer will the material (rubber or mesh heads) make a difference?

P.S:- i live in Delhi, India and was wondering whether anyone knows a place here that i can buy an ekit from.

The more you pay the better they are...
If its just to practice, get a cheap one...
For serious business you gotta put around $2000
behind it... Practice pads are the same material as
a yamaha kit...(Talking about the rubber practice pads)
It does give you better rebound, but I guess you might
loose the feel for real skin... They all become really good
above 2000 dollars, but for me there would only be Ddrums
yamaha or roland... Good luck... (cheap electric kits are crap)

as much as i love hart dynamics, i have to warn you away from the prodigy kit. it's basically just triggered remo practice pads. i'd recommend looking at the roland td-3 kit for an entry level kit. check ebay, you might get a good deal.

And its gotta have a good brain....

And what country are you in???

I live in India but that is not a problem coz ill get the kit from outside, i dont think there many distributors here (second most populous country in the world and only one distributor for roland as far as i know). as for my budget, i cannot spare more than 1300 USD on the kit and module.
The kit will be primarily for practice purposes as i didnt like the idea of practicing on muffled acoustic drums.
Also can yamaha kick pad accomodate double bass pedal?

they can, but its cheaper and better if you buy another single pedal, and another bass pad... It works out to be cheaper than buying a double pedal...
Your budget should get you a fairly decent Yamaha.... Nothing extreme, but good enough, even to have a live performance with... Mine is around $1700 US and its good for gigging...

There is an audio recording on the forum with my drums playing a solo over a standard beat that is played on an acoustic...

For your budget I would check out the Yamaha DTXpress series: Rubber pads and less than satisfactory hi-hat action (there's pretty much just up and down, no in-between) and no bells on the cymbals are the only complaints, but otherwise it's a solid quality set.

ya sure yamaha drummer gimme the link, and thanks for the invaluable info about getting the 2 kickpads instead of a double bass pedal, it really is cheap, i didnt realise that. as for the kit i think ill go with a roland or yamaha, nothing beats good quality. a few more hours of surfing on the web and i think ill be done.
one more thing, will the yamaha kit be good for overnight practice, how much sound do the rubber pads create?

I have played just about every electronic kit out there at one time or another, starting with the syndrums all the way up to ROland's Vdrum and the Ddrum stuff and my vote would be for the Roland gear if you can find it as it is pretty indestructible. Find something on Ebay within your budget and you should be okay,
