I am debating between the Pork Pie Little Squealer (12x5), Sonor Force 3005 (5.5x14), and PDP (6x14) Maple Snare Drums. Anybody have anysuggestions on which one I should go with?

yeah actually....i have a sonor force 3005...and they are a lovely snare...what kinda music do you play or are you wishing to play??

the snare sounds nice tuned up really hihg(as i have mine)and with a good head on it...

i played a PDP snare before and really disliked it...i dunno why it just felt like any other kind of snare...one you get with a mid range kit...?dunno..

never heard any pork pies....but im looking for smaller snares myself...so a 12" sounds good...

out of those i would say pork pie. they make some great snares and i really don't like anything made my PDP and i've never played that sonor snare

the sonor is a good bet...it serves for any type of music you throw at it...but i reckon the pork pies are better in many ways...?

how much are you planning to spend?

I was sold on my Pearl piccolo (3.5 x 13)...but rolled across a Maryland Drum 6.5 x 14 (20mm shell) and love it...super-sensetive, fatter, and just fills a nice back-beat snare sound I was looking for.

I wasn't big on the Force 2001 snare, which prompted me to look for another initially.

Don't know about Pork Pies, but just diddling on them in Guitar Centers and such, I would toss it if someone gave it to me.

I'm looking to spend less than $200, and I play rock music.

Check out the Pork Pie 13x7 vented little sqealer. It is a great drum.

i would also vote for the Pork Pie. I had (briefly) the 5x12 squeeler, and it was a great snare -- loud, focused and made very well. I also had a sonor 3003 snare and it was a DOG if there ever was one. I would but that snare on the bottom of the list of all that i have played. I am not a fan of the PDP snares either.

the pork pie will serve you well. However i would also look into the larger 13x7 vented version as well.

I should also add that I like to tune my snares really high...

Id really recommend you look at a Tama Artwood. Solid maple shells. Its the same specs as a Starclassic Maple snare apart from the same lucgs and die cast hoops
