Hi guys!

Had the opportunity to have a master class with one of the current most hired drummers in Sweden.

He checked out my playing and thought I needed to upgrade my playing to 2006 if I wanted to get work.

Here's an example beat that I'm working on that is along his advice. Basically he said that a drummer usually needs to play more subdivisions these days.

Anyway, beat sounds simple but can be a bit tricky at first. Right hand is playing 16th all the way through on the hihat while the left hand plays 8th and 16th on the snare.

The clip is recorded with just the OH mics in my studio using my Pearl Reference kit.

What do you think?

Cheers

That was really cool. In my opinion subdivisions are the funnest things to play

That was very good indeed. 100% tight, and much harder than it sounds, you should have no problem getting work if you play like that, great stuff!

Thanks a lot, much appreciated.

Yeah I hope to get working again, was really into the drum scene 15 years ago but it's difficult to get back in I find. There are so many cool (and younger) drummers out there.

Hey Nergy,

That's very nice, I like it a lot......however, I do have a question.

Why is "that" particular beat going to get you gigs? I guess I dont' understand?

Thanks man.

It's not this beat in particular but this kind of playing that is required a lot these days, at least in the Swedish Pop/Rock scene. Of course there's a lot else to it as well. This was just an example.
