that's a groove i recorded for meters' look-ka py py i'm going to play with my fellow keyboardist :). it's only a drum track with no effects or compression on it. i tuned em to sound as vintage as possible and recorded on only one mic (because i don't have the equipment to record on more :). any feedback will be appreciated.

Very nice. What kind of ride/crash was that you were hitting?

thanks! it's a bosphorus masters series 19' crash ride. i love it for its deep and dark tone.

That's a great sound! I love the sound of his drums on The Meter's stuff it's so vintage. Very solid groove as well, you have a very nice feel and Zigaboo's influence is strong in you. Overall - Great Job!

thanks. yeah, Ziggy's sound on this record is sooo cool! i dig especially his bass drum, which is kinda pointy, but in a great way, without that awful "click".

Loved it! Very funky.
That reminded me of Stanton Moore...but I don't know about 'Zigaboo.' Can someone explain that to me?

Zigaboo's actually one of the founding fathers of funky drumming :). he was playing in the band The Meters. check him out on drummerworld, his full name's Joseph Ziggy Modeliste (http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Joseph_Modeliste.html). and Stanton's probably my greatest inspiration, so good shot:).

Hey man, very nice playing and especially good on the ghost notes on the snare!
Can definetely see the Zigaboo and Stanton in you! Funky like underarms...:)
I do have a couple questions tho,
1. What type of mic did you use and (if applicable) which setting did you have it on?
2. Where did you place the mic?
3. What program did you use to record the playing?
Thanks for funking up my morning!
Peace,
Saif

thanks man! :) i appreciate it.
if it comes to your questions, you could be kinda disappointed or at least surprised with my answers :).
"1. What type of mic did you use and (if applicable) which setting did you have it on?"
it's audio-technica. some handheld for vocal, not sure (Shure?:P) which model. some pro stuff.
the only setting i had it on is... "on" ;).
"2. Where did you place the mic?"
placed on a boom stand (tied up at the end of it with... a felt strip:P. i used what was available). height: about 1m, distance from drums: about 2,5m.
"3. What program did you use to record the playing?"
adobe audition 2.0. no effects right now though.
hope it helps :)
