Evans heads on Yamaha SCA

Hey everyone...
I need your help again.
What would you recommend more on a Yamaha Stage Custom?

Evans G2 over G1
or
Evans EC2 over G1

and coated or clear?

I'm looking for a warm focused and full sound on my toms. Low enough resonance without O-Rings that it doesn't go BONG.......GGGGGGG.

I don't have a Stage Custom but I do have a Recording Custom (different shell material I think, I don't know much about SC) and I currently have G2's on the batter side and have a tab of Moongel on my 12, 13 and 14" toms. My 16" doesn't need the Moongel, it sounds awesome. I plan to try the EC2's on my new toms when they arrive next month but I will definitely have a pack of Moongel on standby in case. If they don't sound like what I want I will sell them on Ebay and change back to G2's over G1's.

I dont know about the Stage Customs, but i have had EC2's and they are an awesome head. They are best if you like your toms tuned low. Mine always gave a deep loud sound
with no overtones. And definately no 'BONG.......GGGGGGG.'

Get the clear version becaus i think coated would be too muffled and go for g1 resos because they give just enough sustain and are easy to tune.

I will get the same heads for my new m birch when i change them.

I have a stage custom adv. and have tried the clear g2's, coated g2's, clear ec2's and coated ec2 batters. The best combo I found was the coated g2 batter and g1 reso's. They allow for a wider tuning range than the Ec2's (which sounded good when tuned real low) but for versatility I'd go with coated g2's. very warm natural sound with these heads.

I have the Evans EC2's and I will never use anything other than that......for a while...

Yes, coated G2's over G1 or Resonant Glass. G1 for a more 'open' sustain or the Glass for a more 'focused' sound.

on my yamaha Maple custom absolute, I run coated g1 over clear g1. recently i tried a coated g2 over a clear g1 on my 16" tom and it absolutely rumbles, I love it. I'll probably get a set of g2's for the rest of the toms.

From what I hear i'll probably look at Coated G2s over Clear G1s...upgrading to Coated G2s immediately and upgrading to Clear G1s after a month or two. Unfortunately then I'll have to keep the stock head for a bit...but hopefully it won't be so bad that I can't bear it for more than a month.

What's the Aquarian equivalent of the Evans Coated G2? Looking at the same warm focused sound.
