The angles really are much lower than the pictures look like...they're fairly flat, but they're also low, due to the shallow depths. I never catch rim or anything. *thumbs up*

The drums all together were about 900...which is dirt cheap for a solid birch kit with 5 toms.

Are you planning on having those on a remote hat, or an X-hat type arm? I'm kind of considering getting a remote hat so I can use at least 2 of my 3 sets of high hats at once... Just wondering about your plans, I suppose.

I don't know...I kind of like the idea of having it as a remote set...but at the same time, I don't see how much I would use it (other than in the Thomas Lang solo fashion) in my every day playing. I already have an X-hat arm, so when I get the new hats, I'll plop them on there. If I ever get to playing music where I need the second set to be fully usable, I'll go ahead and get the remote stand.

And yes, my job (for being in high school) pays 10 bucks an hour...I valet for one of the those ritzy private neighborhoods. I get to drive a Ferrari every day. =D

The heads look more beat up than they really are. They're not really that old; maybe 4 months. They still get great tone. I'd give them another month before they're done.

By the way, does that splash cymbal ever bump into your toms when you hit it? It looks like it's very close.

its beautiful. if the cymbals were sabian aax. but other than that its my dram kit. but um does your splash hit the tom rims when you hit it?

First of all, I bought the original shell kit (10" 12" 14" 22" bass and matching snare) for 700. I then specially ordered the 8" tom and 16" tom for about 300 together. I don't know what the deal is on the drums anymore, but I guess I got mine on a Guitar Center sale. These drums sound beautiful when mic'd up and run through a PA. To be honest, though, in low volume jazz settings, these drums don't have a whole lot. If you're playing music with a rock group, but you're not mic'd, these will be great, as they cut a whole lot. The problem is, they don't resonate too much when struck softly, so they won't sound nearly as good as they did when you gave them a good ol' whack at home. Fortunately, I don't play in alot of situations like that. I play rock and funk both mic'd and unmic'd, so these babies really sing for me.

As for the splash, he looks pretty close, but he doesn't ever hit the rims. I keep him tightened enough so that he never drops that low. I love that positioning...makes using it in quick fills really convenient.

I guess it’s in the tuning because my Gretsch kit sounds great at low volume as it does at a high volume, the exception would be the bass drum. This drum is a canon and at low volume you really need to play light on the pedal. I do agree they have a lot of cut when needed. The drums don't sound bad at low volumes, they just don't sound as good as they do at higher volumes. That's what I was trying to say, it just wasn't really clear.

Though, I do agree, the tuning does have alot to do with that. Mine are tuned fairly tightly on top and looser on the bottom for a nice, cutting, fat tone. Beautiful.

Very nice, you have a similar set-up to my kit. I love having the ride right there in front of me. In fact you also have your china in the same place as mine, not to mention the two crashes...... yea we pretty much have the exact same setup, just in different sizes and makes.
