i know that there is a topic started about this but i'd like a ride to fit my needs
does anybody know of a ride that has good tones and a nice ping on the bell that is well suited for metal drumming
i'd also like the price to be nothing above $150
i was thinking of planet Z by ziljian at first but i heard it was somewhat crappy so i need a new idea

Although $150 really doesn't allow for a fantastic ride, I can suggest either a Paiste PST 5 Rock Ride or a Zildjian ZXT Rock Ride. Again, you'd do better if you were willing to spend $200-300 on a ride, but hey.. it's your choice.
check out dream cymbals i got a 22'' contact ride for 138 with tax from a local music store. they are handhammerd and sound Amazing check my thread on them.
you can also look into saluda they make custom cymbals with a very low price i have a set of hat that are great as well.

I have heard good things about saluda's. But i dont know if anything will fit your metal style of drumming. My friend had ZXT's they were fair
Never really heard about Dream though.

alright thx but what about used cymbals i heard someplace that they can be better than new ones
www.cymbalcellar.com has some great stuff used. saluda could hook you up with a great cymbal for metal the hybrid heavy metal line would do you good and jamie could always modify it for you. used cymbals have the broken in sound i think that is what you might be talking about after a cymbal i played for a while and gets gunk in the grooves and such they seem to mellow out some people like that.
cymbal cellar has 2 aax stage ride that are priced at $90 and $95 that you might want to check out

What about a used 21" Rock Ride? Or used 22" Earth Ride?

thx a lot
before i didn't mention that i need to upgrade most of my cymbals and i was wondering what quality the zildjian pro 4 with the free boom(for the holidays) free china and cymbal bag was and if its worth getting, i would like to know tonight
link to the site:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Zildjian-ZBT-4Piece-Cymbal-Set-with-FREE-18-China-and-Cymbal-Bag-?sku=444594
p.s. i did a search and it didnt find anything and ive found the reviews on MF to be unreliable so i need help
i would try to stay away from the lower lines like zbt b8 and such. They may look good but the sound isnt that great. i would just save up and buy high level cymbals one at a time then buy a whole set you migh end up hateing in a month or two. outta the zbt line the only cymbals that might might be worth anything is the chinas to me it seems that the lower end chinas sound better or as good as some of the high class chinas.
dont take our word for that thogh try out the cymbals that you want listen to your ears and try out all brands you will only limit yourself if you stick to one

Hm only just stumbled upon this thread and saw "Planet Z" (I think)...
(shudders) DON'T GET IT!
Well at least I don't like it. I personally like a very dry(?) ride with tons of stick definition and little overtones.
With the Planet Z ride it's fine if you hit it once or twice, if you hit it hard again and again, soon all you hear is the noisy overtone that is about 3 notes lower than the cymbal's original pitch and kinda sounds like microphone feedback.
Sure it's fine for some, personally I hate it.
BUT it's cheap :) :) :)
im pretty sure its fooleeze
