Well... this is the last vid I will be making for a while.. I will be experiencing every drummer's nightmare.. I'm selling my house and moving to an apartment.. will have to resort to my electronics..that totally sucks!.. so I figured I would make one last vid before I pack the drums....
Weckl's 'Tower of Inpiration' ..from Master Plan.. the first tune I ever heard by Weckl back in '90..the one that made me fall in love with jazz.... like I said.. i welcome all criticism..good or bad..as long as it's constructive.

Wow ! Thanks guys! that means a lot to me... especially coming from you Bernhard! That just made my day! I just wish i could write this stuff! As far as the wuhan goes...i have 3...a 12"splash on the far left, a 12"china next to that and a 14"china on my right which i love... these things are cheap as hell but you cant go wrong on the sound live and recording. thanks... jon

Unbelievable playing man. You played that song like it was nothing. Amazing power and sense of expression.
I definitely enjoyed that. I know for a fact that Karl really took pleasure in watching this, and Brittc89 will too as soon as he takes notice of this amazing performance, because he's a big Weckl fan. You should hear his playing, it's outstanding, and check out Karl's exceptional playing on his recordings too.

That was some awesome playing man! Not a note out of place. It was really weckl and Im a big weckl fan for the most part. Ive got a play along version of this song too and I cant ever get that section after the first verse, I always get really confused, but you nailed it. Really cool stuff for sure. I watched the access denied video awesome, i loved both of them.

I've seen a few of your videos now and i really noticed how clean your grooves sound. Do you have a band? i'd like to hear you play some original stuff.

wow! thanks man! i appreciate it. ok... the minus drum thing... as far as minus drums go, the videos i'm using minus drum tracks are dave weckl's big b little b, rhythm dance and access denied...those were from his In Session cd which is basically the cd Rhythm of th Soul minus the drum... all the rest including this one was just played to the original track... if you listen close there's a few spots where you can hear dave's bass drum where i would miss a beat. thanks again!

oh yea.. gear and recording.. well basically it's nothing special.. mapex m birch drums, sabian aax and xs cymbals, 3 different wuhan cymbals, cad mics, behringer mixer... basically just load up the original track onto the computer using sonar... then just record along to it.. in the meantime, running a couple different litte digital cameras.. then throw the vid and audio and mix it together using movie maker and studio 10... as for sound, i just use the eq and reverb on the mixer ... very low budget production... like i said before... cheap is my middle name! thanks for the interest man!

Man your one of the best players I've seen on this site....
Very impressive!
I can play the groove but I still can't do the hits section with the horns...
Just wondering do you play by ear or do you transcribe to learn licks?

Wow.. thanks man!.. that may be the overstatement of the year though..ha ha.. there are tons of drummers on here that make me want to turn my kit into a coffee table... but anyway... to be honest..I don't know the first thing about reading music and transcribing.. i'm 100% ignorant to that.. would like to learn someday though.. everything i play really is just by ear.. you know.. listening in the car.. car horn is the snare.. steering wheel are toms.. ornament on mirror is the cymbal, etc. I actually learned to play by watching my brother Jeff(here in pic) http://a1000.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/26/m_49b97154858ce1c14906710c8fee81a7.jpgwhen I was about 10 and he was 16..he actually still blows me out of the water...
Thanks for the comment man...
