I have been taking lessons for a while and am joining a christian metalcore band.

What is the best ideal set for me?double bass, of course.

My budget cannot exceed 1500

I am relatively new to drumming but am going to commit hours and hours to progress fast so I can begin playing with the band.

also, any videos/booklets to help me learn how to drum to heavy metal music that you recommend?

If i were you, id check out some metalcore drummers kits, just to get an idea of what kind of sound you're going for. Also, try out diferent kits at your local music store. Its not like theres certain kits that are specifically designed for "metalcore," its basically just finding the sound you want. Hope that i was of some assistance.

Like stated above, there is no "Best" kit for your style of music. You should be fine w/a standard kit; 22, 12, 13, 16 w/14 snare. You can get PDP CX or Mapex M Birch kits w/hardware for under $1000.00. Remo pinstripes could help w/the sound you want.

I would say go to their band/band members websites. If they have them. Or if you see the brand of drums a particular drummer uses you can check the drum companies website for info. In my oppinion, you most likely wont get the exact sound you hear from other drummers. What I described already would be my oppinion of what may give you a similar sound of what your looking for. Good luck.

anything made of maple [if you like warm sound] or birch [if you like bright sound] i guess... i think its more of a matter of heads and tuning..

I play a lot of Hardcore too.
I suggest a Pacific kit.
Pretty much any Pacific is good.

Joey jordison signaure kit whiole stocks last. Although the shells ane the same as the export, they must be good enough for joey, and for metal, the shells aren't as important. Also, you get the joey sig snare which is meant to be awesome.

Another vote for that joey sig export. Exports arent magnificent, but they are definitally not terrible.

christian metalcore/hardcore/emo is quite big actually. There are also christian black, power, death, speed, gothic and doom metal bands, to name a few styles. It's all about playing the music and spreading positive messages.

I've heard Norma Jean's drummer uses a Tama Rockstar btw, that's way within your budget.
