Wuhan doesn't suck, they're just variable. You get what you pay for really in terms of consistency.

He has that exactly right; Wuhan chinas can differ greatly from cymbal-to-cymbal.
The good news is that they are very inexpensive; in fact their quality can often far exceed their relative cost. Go back to the store and take a swing at a few others, and I'll bet you might find one you like.
If not, exchange it for one you do like, but my guess is that you will come home with one Wuhan or another, unless you want to spend a lot more money.

I have a wuhan 12 inch chinese, and i love it. Its trashy and for some reason hasent quit on me! I've heard people say that they break instanly, but ive had my for about 6 months now, and i love it! From what ive used, you can't go wrong. Especially for the price.

i have had my wuhan 18" china for over a year now and not a single problem *knock on wood* -- just a great trashy tone.

same here the only thing i noticed with mine is the hole is off center a bit and it weighs more on one side. Does any of this matter to me...NO its sounds great really trashy. Cymbals rolls with mallets are great on it too!

Yes, I have a 12" Wuhan and I hate it. The smaller sizes that Wuhan makes I think sound absolutlety terrible. However, their larger size Chinas sound amazing and the best part is..
There only $40!

I bought a 12'' china at GC for $10. I have no idea how or where I lost it but it sounded pretty good for $10

They make good cheap gifts for drummers!
I bought one recently, and love it! Great trashy tone for when you need something that isnt clean like a conventional crash!
Are you sure you are playing the china right? I knwo the quality of wuhans vary a lot, but you get that in any hand hammered line from any cymbal company, some of my meinl byzances i have ordered, i have sent back because they had all tone and no musicality.

yesterday, i went back to GC and played every single one of their 12 inch wuhan china cymbals. and found one i liked. the others seemed to sound alittle too gongy...
and i found out that the one my aunt picked up had a tag that said "Lion Cymbal". i dont know if GC is trying to pass them off as wuhans.. but they had 3 lions and wuhans KILLED them.

Wuhan makes a lot of different ranges - those cheap chinas are their "Lion" range, so all the ones you tried with lion on it are wuhans. They don't stamnp/brand all of their cymbals the same, it's a bit weird.

Dude I got the same thing for Christmas and mine sounds awesome. What do you expect when you only pay $9.99. I like mine, first china I have ever owned.
Assuming you got it from MF.

Bummer, but at least it was an inexpensive cymbal, and replacing it won't put you in the poor house.

Doesen't Wuhan have a one year guarantee on all their cymbals? Or did I get that wrong?

I have a 14" and 18" china. They don't blend with my Paiste 2002s. At first I was enamored with the china sounds but in recordings they really sounded like the bastard stepchildren of my drum set. I finally invested in a 2002 china and the Wuhans became the most expensive ashtrays I ever purchased.

Well yes, Wuhan is just good for the money, I don`t think that they would be so popular if they weren`t just $10 more expencive...try some others, maybe you find a good weight.
What line of Wuhan have you got?

well, personally i have tried a lot of chinas -- from the big three. I have not heard any china that even comes close at any price. Now mind you, i have not heard them all, but it does bode well for Wuhan. I would have bought it at twice the price..... just nice that i didn;t have to.

No two Wuhans are the same. I have a 21 and a 23 prototype that are over 17 years old and they rock.

I have a 12, 14, 20 wuhan chinas, i only play with the 20, im hoping to get the 18 model soon!
all 3 sound like champs, but the 12 is still too small, its glassy and you are right, not trashy enoff. but i am totaly happy with the 14. i havnt played on my 12 much, so im gonna put it on in place of my 20 and try to break it in!

i have a 20 inch ride made by wuhan, but the stamp on it says bellcarrol probaly one of their other cheaper lines of cymbals
it only cost me 40 bucks and has lasted about a year and theres not one crack or anything, best, cheapest cymbal ive brought so far
i also got a 20 inch china and that sounds great, it ried out 3 at the store and every one sounded very different
