i think sabian have stopped making the pro/pro sonix range. I have tryed them at a friend's house and they seem good for the price (mid range). however, i think you'd be better off getting some better hi hats like AAX/AA, especially for speed metal (i dnt think the pros would really cut it).

The only Sabian Pro I have is a 20" Dry Ride. It's very bright and cuts through. It may get traded soon though.
thnx for the replies n i might save up for aa's but the thing that attrcted me toi them was the fact that they were £49 no i new they wernt that bad i was just wondering kl

I have the sabian pro set.
The Hats are ok, nothing special. As with the rest of the set they're quite bright, but a bit clangy when opened. The chick from pressing the pedal isnt that loud, when i have enough money i will buy some seconed hand zildjian K hats. Go for a higher range i would say, i only got mine because my band's guitarist gave me the set for free, they'll do me for a couple of years though.

I've got the Pro set and the hats are the only part worth mentioning. I actually think they are pretty good for metal, they're really bright and washy when played slightly opened (good for hardcore). The only gripe I have is there's lots of airlock in the chick.
Out of my Sabian Pros, these will be the last thing I replace.

The sonix are just a newer version really, they have more lathing and so are less bright sounding. Also they are slightly thinner than the pros, personally i prefer my pro ride but the hats are just as good in the sonix range.
