Hey guys, I'm in need of some new hi-hats and I can't decide on which ones to get..
Help! I prefer Zildjian, but I'll take anything, Keep it fairly cheap, and I want light (weight) ones, The ZBT hats I have now break every hi-hat stand I put them on because they're so heavy..

Mhhh, if you want some fairly cheap Zildjians which are not so heavy I can recommend the 13" ZHT hi-hats...but in my opinion it wouldn`t be such a great buy.
I would save some more money for cast bronze Hi-hats. as for versatile models I can really recommend A Custom Mastersound Hi-hats, K hi-hats or some Avedis.
But I have one more question: What music style(s) do you play mainly?

Yeah my friend has ZHT hats, I don't really like them..
I play blues, classic rock, funk, some jazz, that kinda stuff..
Have you heard anything about the ZXTs?

So, as I said: I would save up more money and buy a nice cast bronze Hi-hat. For this kind of stuff I can highly recommend the Zildjian K Hi-hats. Great and versatile. This is just what I would take...you should also go to a music store and try it live!
good luck my friend...

I agree with Karl. Get some K or cast sheet bronze hats, they're the true pro hats everyone needs.

what kind of hi hat stand do you have? It might be wise to invest in a new one if it breaks all the time.

Buy quality - and buy it once.
Try Sabian AA/AAX/HH/HHX
Zildjian Avedis/A or A Custom/K
Buy Zht and you'll replace 'em anyway so save and get something decent to start with. It'll be cheaper in the long run. And sound much better.
Peace.

Don't get these Planet-Zs...because they probably suck...but anyway...
I currently have a pair of Planet-Z hi-hats.
Don't ask me why, but from all the hi-hats I have heard at my drum store the only one that I like more than this is the Sabian Paragon.
Maybe it's just the environment they're in...but I love my Planet-Zs!
The crashes and rides are no better than an aluminium disc coated in tin foil.
BUT they're cheap!
LOL

If you actually have those man, PM me on how those are...i have been really interested since i started saving up for new cymbals.
Another vote for new beats. Jazz set at school has them and i must say They are about as versitile as they come, when still delivering quality. They've also held up pretty well, those things have taken so many beatings and still sound nice.

Here is another vote for the New Beats! However, the Sabian Regular Hi Hats are Sabian's New Beats so that would be an alternative. I also suggest the 13" K/Z combination or the Sabian Fusion Hi Hats. You are looking to stretch your money so I would search on Ebay for these models. I don't recommend any Mastersounds as these have very specific sound.

I also recommend the New beats (traditional) and the K hats. These are the more versatile hats. Excellent for any style!
