Sunlite Kit

I bought this kit used for just $75, and it sounds pretty decent. It's my first kit, and I've owned it for about 6 months, even though I have been playing for over 3 years.

Sunlite, in case anyone's wondering, is a Taiwanese import budget brand.

Looks sweet.
How are the PST-5's? I've been looking to get those soon...
But, nice looking kit, the bass drum reso really gives it a neat look.

honestly, for a cheap as dirt kit, it looks SHARP, man.
i've always been a fan of red kits, and the white heads and reso make it look real classy. although your cymbals aren't the best, you have a solid cymbal setup with very comfortable placement.

be proud, man. that's a nice kit.

outtastix723: The PST-5s are good cymbals for the price. In my opinion, they are much better than their equivalents by Zildjian and Sabian.

Good find! A lot of people here might snicker at a Sunlite or CB700, but they are good kits for the money and a great way to start. If you are happy with the sound, that's what matters most. Plus, you can make those sets sound surprisingly well with good heads and careful tuning.

I notice you have your rack tom on a stand and not on the bass drum mounts and it gives the set a cool old-style jazz look. Why did you do that?

Thanks for the reply, Deathmetalconga. I agree with you that entry-level kits can be made to sound decent with good heads and tuning, as is the case with mine.

To answer your question, I have my rack tom hung off of the stand because that's the most comfortable position for me - right in front of the snare drum. I can't get it that way using the bass drum mounts.

pst-5's are only purchased if your in a "dont have any cymbals..need some now -twitch twitch-" scenario.

same as zbts or any other beginning line

these are good for the price, but save up and get some sabian AA's or zildjian a series.. dont waste your money for the small step up.

I am now playing in a funk and blues band so i have changed my kit accordingly. It's a simple 4 peice ( + aux. snare sometimes) with a decent amount of cymbals.
