i was looking to spend at max 250 on a new snare this summer.
my drum teacher REALLY loves spaun drums, and i was looking at guitarcenter and found

it looks really cool, low price, and very funky.
does anyone have any experience with this snare, or a snare around that price, that sounds good?
also any sound clips would be appreciated

i played it at my local GC and hated it. I tuned it up a little bit and messed with the snares. It sounded better but I still wasn't a fan of it. Seemed very cheaply built to me. got a pork pie that day instead

Don't buy a snare with massive vents in it - or atleast don't buy an expensive snare with big vents in it, - you're paying for a beautiful shell whose properties are all but lost because of the massive vents in the side. Also, the sacrificed tuning range and tone make for a fairly limited snare drum.

From looking at it, it doesn't seem too special to me. Nothing out of the ordinary custom on it and about those vents...maybe your preference though. I'd also take a look at PP acrylic snares.

So you guys think this isnt as good as the pork pies? And i was wondering what color that acrylic is. Is it a light green?

They call it coke bottle, so I am assuming it is green. Of course I guess I'm dating myself since coke bottle now is clear plastic.

I almost bought this snare. It is very loud and responsive. Great snare. If I had to purchase another snare, this would be in the running.
