Isn't the HHX Evo meant to be one of the brighter crashes in the HHX line? I'm sure I read that HHX Evo was bright and HHX Legacy dark. So it's not really comparable. I'm a big fan of Sabian so I'd choose that anyday, but I can't see the sense in comparing a dark crash with a bright one.

They are the same family The one brother owns Zildijan the other owns Sabian. You should be able to find a very similar cymbal in either line. In the end just chose the one that sounds the best to you. Nevermind the name brand go by your ear.
From what I read so far what you need to decide is if you want a bright cymbal or dark cymbal.

Pfff...that is very difficult. I mean, the Sabian has those great trshy qualities, has a bit more cut, is brighter I think...I`d go for the Sabian. The Zildjian K sound too "thick" for me, the sound is too full in my opinion. Though it`s thin!
Go out and check em in a music store...

Although i am more of a Zildjian guy, i do have the Sabian HHX 16" evolution, and it is amazing. Nice Washy sound, really versitile cymbal IMO. Any of the two cymbals would be an excellent choice.

I tihnk 16 inch crashes are pretty weak. I would get the 18 inch but it depends on the music. If you play loud a 16 inch crash is pushing it. I would go with the evolution i like alomst all the cymbals from that line.

And here is another vote for the Sabian HHX Evolution! But I will add that lie another post, you want to buy it only if sounds good to you!

Hmmmm, I wasn't a fan of the 16" dark thin crash. it didn't seem really thin and was actually pretty thick. I love the Evolution cymbals though, so I am going to say that.
